Is it a week or two ahead? or is it all filmed before it airs?

Must be filmed a bit in advance because they have the "next times"

Hmm, didn't Michelle Dubery give away the fact that she'd one the show weeks before it had been aired by e-mail someone from an amstrad e-mail address?

If so, perhaps the whole series is filmed ahead, in which case it must be a pain to have to do these interviews on 'your fired' weeks after actually being fired.

It's all filmed before it airs, the final is filmed nearer the end I believe.

I believe it was filmed in October and November of last year but the final hiring decision is actually filmed a few days before it is aired. Apparently in the intervening months, the 2 finalists actually work for Sir Alan.

Apparently two endings to the final is recorded. Then one day before the show airs, Sir Alan informs both contestants who has won. Then the BBC just edit that version of the ending into the show.

I dont know about you but I really want to see the footage of Kristina winning the Apprentice to see what Simons reaction would have been...they must have the footage somehwere unless they burned it!

I remember last year, the task at London Zoo, took place during the October half-term.

Bearing in mind the vehicles registration dates of Friday 14th Sept (various vehicle check sites have confirmed the registration dates of KX57YNL, KX57YNJ & KX57YPH), here is the dateline now based on a dated clip, in reverse order:

TASK 3
Wed 26th Sept.- Morning, Task 3 Firing.
Tue 25th Sept.- Selling food in pubs.
Mon 24th Sept.- Assigned task and prepared. ( Clip of promotion notes for the following day )

Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd Sept.- Weekend off (possibly).

TASK 2
Two day task, day 1 collecting & cleaning laundry, day 2 returning laundry and firing in the boardroom- say Thu 20th & Fri 21st Sept.

TASK 1
One day task, spills into 2nd day for firing, two return to house- say Tue 18th & Wed 19th Sept.

Filming started approximately Tuesday 18th September 2007 then.

If it's filmed back that far I'd definitely be peed off at it being in the papers and me doing all the interviews 6 months later lol.

This is a great and thorough reply, but I must be having a 'stupid day' because I don't understand what you mean in the highlighted text.

How do you know the dates of filming from the vehicle registrations?

Those are the registration plate numbers of the black Chryslers (KX57YNL, KX57YNJ & KX57YPH) used by the candidates. Checking them out here:

Follow the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Option, enter a Reg No. & Manufacturer to get date

Simple! When viewed in conjunction with the clip from last night's Task 3, then a bit of working backwards allows the start date to be pinned down to within a few days!

Why do you assume that the cars are used so soon after registration? There could be and probably was a month or two in between them being registered and filming as they normally do it in Oct\Nov.

Did you bother to read my original post?

FACT: Cars legally registered Friday 14th September 2007

FACT: Task 3, THIS CLIP shows the boys notes, highlighting the day of the Pub Food task as Tuesday 25th September. the clip is from the day before in the publishers who are preparing the promo material.

It doesn't take a great deal of effort to pin the first filming day of Task 1 down when it is clearly within that 10 day period!

Good detective work there

^ Cheers!

TBH, i've done this every year on another forum, and every year it shows the mild bit of hoodwinking that the producers do. It you believed the program, you'd think they'd just spent 3 weeks together up until now.

In reality, it's more like 8 days! Don't be surprised though, every year has been the same, they are together for no more than about 5 weeks, not 14 weeks which you would expect if they fired one per week to leave 2 finalists!

The show lasts 12 weeks, so in reality they must fire people twice a week.

I did but it contained a link off to somewhere else which I didn't bother clicking on. I now understand the clip shows a definate date.

You can tell when the show is being filmed when newbies appear on the shopping channels!

Ahhhh this makes sense and also explains a question that has been bugging me. How do they get so much time off work? - surely they wouldn't risk their career entirely and also how does the final 2 not get leaked as the fired people would return to work early.

If they manage to film it all in 4 - 5 weeks that is easily taken as unpaid leave in most jobs.

Lol I tried to keep an eye out this year, but I was obviously looking too late if it was filmed September time.

A rather good clue is the weather, the progressive reduction in daylight and the clothing they wear. They start off playing footie in the garden in late September but by the end in November they are all wearing heavy coats.

I've always thought it weird that they don't film in the spring/summer (i.e. better weather longer days so more scope for outdoor tasks) with the programme being aired in the autumn.

Wow, thanks Boss I didn't realise that you could do that. As another poster says, great detective work.
