Just received email from virgin advising Sky Anytime now on Virgin. Had to check it wasnt fake since nobody mentioned it yet!

Quote:
"We're giving you a lovely Sky Anytime tickle. As a TV XL customer you now have access to hundreds of hours of amazing shows from Sky1, Sky Living, and Sky Arts - ready to watch whenever you are. If you have our Sky Sports Collection you can also catch highlights of your favourite sports whenever it suits. Or our Sky Movies Collection offers you access to around 500 films at the touch of a button.

There are no catches, tickles are nice little things we do to make you smile. You can now watch your favourite shows or movies on your TV any time you want, at no extra cost. "

TV On Demand changes.
We’ve made some exciting changes to the way our customers access TV On Demand, not to mention hundreds more hours of your favourite shows and boxsets ready to watch whenever you fancy.

TV Choice has disappeared as a menu option and has been replaced by three new options: TV for M+, TV for L and TV for XL. Just select your package and you’ll find all your subscription channels plus all the TV On Demand content available for those channels.

This means that for the first time customers on the TV M+ package can get access to hundreds of hours of on demand TV to enjoy whenever they like, and it’s all included at no extra cost.

In addition to Catch Up TV, the best of the last 7 days’ telly from BBC iPlayer, ITV Net Player, 4oD and Demand 5, TV M+ customers can now watch up to 2200 hours of TV On Demand shows from Sky Anytime: Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky News, Sky Arts, BBC, ITV Player, 4OD and Discovery Channel.

TV L Pack customers get a massive 2600 hours of TV On Demand, including everything on TV M+ plus brilliant shows from channels like Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, MTV, Nickelodeon, E!, Boomerang.

Our TV XL package now features 3,500 hours of top TV ready to watch whenever you are, including WarnerTV, FX, Sky Living HD, Sky 1 HD, Sky Arts 1 HD, Discovery Channel HD, Aardman Animations and US boxsets.

There’s also a new ‘Sports’ menu option where Sky Sports, ESPN, ESPN Classic and Live Events can be found. ESPN Classic shows* are available for TV XL customers only and Sky Sports Collection subscribers have access to Sky Anytime Sports content. Live events and Adult content are now available through the ‘Pay Per View’ menu option.

*We are working hard to make the ESPN Classic content available to ESPN a la carte subscribers as well and we will update you as soon as we can.

Virgin Media TV site‏ @TVOnVM
As well as series 1 of Community coming to our On Demand service, series 2, starting on Sony this month, will be available on Catch Up!

I think VM have agreed an on demand deal with Sony Pictures Television as season 1 of Community (also in HD), Justified (also in HD) and The Shield have all been added to US Boxsets. Breaking Bad (brilliant series IMO) and Damages should also become available.

There's also Battlestar Galactica: Mini Series, season 1 and 2 available for those into that kind of programming, and they're all in HD too.

So there is! Were these specials in place of a proper series in 2009?

Excellent. On-demand is the way for the future. I don't even watch regular telle anymore with the excessively long commercial.

I seem to remember at the original showing that the first US episode included a lot of historical scene-setting which they didn't think the Brits would need.

The 1992 BBC1 Halloween Special 'Ghostwatch' is now on the service, it was I believe at the time the most complained about BBC programme ever!
