My local Subway (Park Royal) has done away with Sub of the day completely!!! (opting for a Sub of the month style thing instead for £2.39), and 'Make it a footlong' has steadily increased from £1, to £1.60 to now £2.

I had my first Subway the other day. I put too much in it and it exploded.

You could always buy some sandwich ingredients and mob your Subway store staff with them to show your unhappiness...

Duuh, it's the global price-rise in food. Everything's more expensive.

Never mind the price, Subway are conning b*stards with their whole 'Eat Fresh' thing. What a load of crap! The fillings and salad ingredients are prepared hours before the store opens. By the time you get your 'fresh' sandwich, everything that goes in it has been sitting out for several hours. The only thing remotely fresh is the 99% part-baked bread. At least that gets finished off with a 30 second oven blast. A burger from a road-side takeaway is fresher.

Subway tastes great, but like 10 yards from my local shop is a stall that sells baguettes that are yummy as hell and half the price, and they take all the business from Subway.

I should think a home made cheese sandwich costs 30p.

The Subway round here isn't that expensive and you still get a Sub of the Day. If it's franchises then it'll depend on who's running it.

I agree..

I just can't believe that a footlong steak and cheese (my fave) is now £5.50 in some Subways (or nearly £7 if you include a £1.20 drink and cookie..!)

I mean I could get a cheap pub lunch for £7!

McDonalds may be absolutely crap food, but at least the prices have barely deviated (69p hamburger, 99p reg coke, 99p McFlurry etc.)

McDonalds do seem to be the same most places you go (apart from motorway service stations ) as well.

I can't believe Subway is that expensive now... people will just stop going so it's a bit silly of them really.

but think of the money you are saving on your internet -surely that will offset the increase at subway

I rule...

Admittedly, I do have to think about it that way, otherwise I think I'd stop buying Subway.

I only buy the cheapest subs now.. no more steak and cheese for me.

Certain Subway franchises seem to be the only major fast food outlet seriously hiking up prices though, thus my reason for complaint.

Burger King, McDonalds etc have had slight, expected fluctuations.. but £7 for a meal at Subway is extortion.

The smell that comes from Subway is so vile! It's kinda sweet and artificial and makes me think that they put a lot of sweetener in their bread, or something. I hate to think what goes into it to make it smell like that.

I think a franchise should be just what it says on the tin.. none of this different prices or offers lark.. franchises should all be the same so we know what to expect.

Because the ones owned by greedy managers are going to lack anything well priced

Subway's rubbish. I made the mistake of wasting my money there when I was a student just because it was the cool thing to do. Could have made something much nicer in the comfort of my own kitchen.

I hate subway.

But I love the way they add a packet of crisps and a carbonated liquid sugar drink and call it a meal.

I mean, one of those for lunch and then a Mcdonalds for dinner, sets you right up for that long trip to the edge of town council estate.

The snobbiest people I've known go on about Subway... the council estate inhabitants can't afford it.

Seconded.. I've never seen a single chav, nor known one to eat at Subway.. it seems to be mainly students, cool geek-chic people and Emo kids with rich parents. (Oh, and me )

I'v only ever been charged the correct price at subway once, they usually under charge me (i.e. pay for 6inch rather than footlong, or maybe even less).
