Sound sync issues on new TV
lox

Any advise on the following please ?

I have just purchased a nice new Sony 40w3000. Problem is that on both DVD and SKYHD playback I get sound issues when having both the TV sound and surround sound turned up. Basically it echoes (i.e the TV sound is out of sync with the surround sound). I think it must be an issue with the TV as it was fine with my old TV. I have tried playing with the digital output delay on the SKY box but it doesn't sort the echo out.

You wouldn't have the TV audio turned up if you were listening via a surround sound system anyway.

But - you would have them both turned up if you were trying to adjust the optical delay from a Sky box so that the audio being sent to a separate amp is in sync with the audio being sent directly to the TV.

Adjusting the delay will sort the echo out - that is what it is there for - but it is unlikely that you will be able to edit the delay when playing from a DVD player. So, even if you get your Sky audio sorted, you'll still suffer from a delay via DVD.

You need to decide which audio is in sync with the picture - when you watch Sky or a DVD with the TV volume turned up, is it in sync or not? Same with the surround sound amp.

If it is the amp that is out of sync, see whether there is an audio delay adjustment on the amp.

The alternative is to see whether there is some kind of audio delay edit on the TV, and adjust that up or down until it is in sync with the surround sound amp.
