SMS on BT home phone - hub problem?
This is similar to an earlier thread about SMS on virgin but that thread didn't really help my situation. I am with BT as a service provider and have a home hub and get the free broadband talk calls too. My current set up is that I have a twin BT reveal phone - and these are plugged in to the green phone socket on the back of the hub. I can use them for incoming and outgoing calls on my landline and BT talk line.
I bought the BT Reveal so instead of getting those very annoying voice texts, any texts sent to me should come though as text. Or so I thought!! Initially I had a problem sending as you can only send from a 01 number and not the 05 broadband lines. Seeing as I had to dial a 5 to get my 'normal' line, I just put a 5 (and an 'R' to allow a slight pause) in front of the send service centre number (instead of the 1470P) and sending texts now works with no problem whilst the phone is connected to the phone socket in the back of the hub. Receiving them is a different story!! I have sent the 'RESET' and 'REGISTER' requests to 00000 as is stated in the manual but then the phone rings for one ring, every 10 minutes or so for about an hour, before I finally get a 'voice text' saying I can send text messages but not receive them (only as voice)! Grrrrrr! Angry I am assuming this is a 'Home hub' problem as the other day when I was testing things I did manage to receive an SMS when I bypassed the home hub and just plugged my phone straight into the socket!! The SMS messages are sent to my landline 01 number, not my broadband line, so it is not this that is the problem. Initially, the receive centre number was set up as 080058752 but the number that kept 'ringing' when it was trying to receive a text was 08005875290 so I changed the receive centre number to that but it still did not work. This is very frustrating as we don't get a mobile signal where we live so I was hoping that by getting my home phone set up I could still send and receive sms whilst at home. If anyone can help I would be very grateful. Best wishes Lynda |

The receive number should be 08005875209 not 08005875290
Worked for me

In the SMS menu, where you set the send and receive numbers, have you got a setting for "Terminal", if so this should be set as 9

There is no 'terminal' setting but under 'users>general mailbox> sub address' there is a number which is already set at 9.
Thanks Lynda |
