Thanks...it's a shame but also a relief that I don't have to look at everyone of Fred Dinage' (How2) wrinkles!
What a cheek! Try being somewhere else in the country and just be grateful to have a professional experienced news presenter not the nerds and bimbos the rest of us mostly get!

You should also have Cartoonito on 706 and several more BBC regional and radio channels too.

Had cartoonito and bbc regional tv stations for some time now but as you have said there is more radio on there, shame The Eagle is not on there as I dont get any radio reception where I live it would be nice to have it.

Small Change

165 Diva TV+1 Removed
166 Sci-Fi +1 Added
Why Diva TV+1 removed, but no regular Scy-Fy or whatever it is called now but with a +1? Is this like before, VM forcing people off analogue to go digital, now forcing people off regular digital to go HD?

Also does anyone know if More4 will get a +1 channel?

This happens quite regularly on Virgin Media. Either a +1 channel will be dropped so another channel can launch or, as in this case, a +1 channel has been dropped to facilitate the launch of another +1. I'm guessing this decision was made by NBC Universal as they own of both Syfy and Diva TV and I assume VM couldn't offer any more space on the platform to them.

If I remember rightly, this is also what happened with More4 +1. Channel 4 replaced it with Channel 4 +1.

Oh and I'm not sure how swapping one +1 hour channel for another will 'force people to go HD'. The 'regular' (i.e. +0) channels are not affected.

ResidentSD thanks for the reply.

On my EPG there is no regular Syfy channel, just the HD one and the +1 channel. I was just wondering if this was going to be the beginnings of taking off a normal channel and putting a HD one in its place with just the regular +1 channel for those without HD to view - meaning you will soon be forced to go HD.

I would like to go HD, but at the same time, I don't want to be forced to take out another 12-month contract.

Syfy is nowhere near Syfy HD and Syfy +1 on the EPG so perhaps you are looking in the wrong place for it.

Syfy should be on 135.

Although one would expect that SyFy on 135, Syfy HD on 165 and SyFy +1 on 166 will be bunched together in the next cabinet reshuffle.

It'll be a long, long time before HD channels replace their SD channel counterparts. We will probably get there at some point but it'll be a good few years yet!

By which time we'll be discussing SyFy 3D.

Some SD channels don't even broadcast in widescreen yet and a lot of content is still not even recorded in HD let alone broadcast in HD. Some channels which, by their nature, show archive material (e.g. G.O.L.D. etc.) have no need to broadcast in HD (even if scaled-up SD can look better).

Presumably, when NGTV is fully rolled out at the end of June, the space issues for channels would have disappeared.

Just noticed that a 'jump' facility has appeared on 'On Demand', enabling you to skip 10 minutes at a time. Very useful, given the slower pace at which you can rewind or fast forward using the facility.

Just to confirm Didcot area also now NGTV. Guessing any town part of the Oxford system (Abingdon etc) are too.

Caution with series links: "V" had actually dropped out from SyFi standard def for some reason. Not sure if NGTV related but check series recordings anyway - might just be a thing with SyFi.

Cheers

Most likely a problem with the EPG rather than the NGTV upgrade I'd have thought.

BTW, it's SyFy but why?

Probably but when yours has been sent out a pop up message will appear on screen advising that you will receive the card within the next week. The link below will also state when they are being issued.

Thats true - either way those alien visitors are now series linked in glorious HD.

Indeed SyFy it changed from SciFi (or something similar) I believe because the equivalent US channel is called the same thing. Global branding. Although I almost typo'd SyFi again!
