I turned on Setanta Sports News this morning at 6am on CH518 and noticed that it was broadcasting now in widescreen and with a new look. Was I still dreaming...

Do you know how many channels fit on each TS?

I take it that you are in an ex-Telewest area. In ex-NTL Aylesbury, the number of streams has just gone up from 28 to 31 and the number of services is unchanged at 290.

I think it's 10 SD channels to a stream but HD, TVoD and Interactive will differ from that.

The Arrow (North West) not currently on analogue platform. Was on 96.0 and in the downtime of E4 - silent in both cases.

Watch is now available to L pack customers, it wasn't before.

Ch 825 TV 5 is now available free to view for a month until Nov 14. Plus, it appears that VM have a new system informing customers about free to view channels as a pop-up-box appears when going to TV5.

Didn't they always have this when showing a channel for a promotional period? Or was it just a (ex) Telewest thing?

So if you go to a channel that was previously blocked it now has a popup to tell you its free? Seems a bit silly really. Why would you even go to a channel that you believe to be blocked? Surely it would be better if a pop-up came up just the once no matter what channel you were viewing to tell you that the channel is now free.

Yeah but when people start watching a channel and then the free period ends they will know that it was free for a limited time. In the past they would call customer services because thay think that they should receive this channel on the package that they are on. Saves confusion.

I doubt many people even venture into the 800s. And surely if they did, they would subscribe to those channels as they are especially made for foreign languages.

In any case the info is sent out in the newsletter along with the Virgin bill so if people look then they will find. If they don't then they won't.

Must be a paper bill thing, as I don't get one. Guess I will never know about these special offers.

Channels 693 to 697 appeared on EPG (NewChan4, 5,6,7 & 8).

Listings appear to be all over the place too . Something new perhaps?

EDIT: EPG settled down now, channels 693-697 are now greyed out

Not sure when this happened but noticed last night a new style red button menu on the ITV channels, plus a looped video service for Britannia High, which is selected from it's section in the ITV red button menu.

Also not sure if this is related in any way but the old style Press Red icons have come back on the BBC channels instead of the iPlayer red button. (iPlayer link is still availiable under the red button menu, just the icon has changed).

Sky Sports 2 is on 512 - wonder what will happen there??
