Thinking of getting the Tiscali PVR.

Hi, new to the forums.

Been with Homechoice for 2 years this month, first year was great, second year not so great.

Terribly slow service with the TV etc.

Things are on the up it seems.

Basically we are switching (migrating i think) on Friday and was thinking of getting the Tiscali + box.

What i would like to know is.....

Does this replace my existing Silver box?

Do you get a wireless router with it?

Can you actually pause and rewind **live** TV as in say if i were watching a Film on ITV2 that i didn't want to miss and i wanted to make a cup of tea etc?

When scrolling down through channels, is it fast like Sky? Mine is very slow and often you hit the down button 10 times out of frustration of it not going to the channel and even after you take your finger off the button it still continues to scoll down

After it has been ordered, how long will it take for them to install it?

And finally, has anyone else has any problems with their Silver set top boxes? i had mine replaced a couple of months ago with one that was less damaged because they didn't make them anymore, so i didn't get a new one and my TV service is still quite bad.

Random lock ups, switching off, distorted pictures, incredibly slow etc.

Thanks for your time

A friend of mine recently had the Tiscali+ box installed. I went to have a look at the weekend and the response on the unit was very slow. Multiple pressings of buttons and no response put me off going for Tiscali TV. I'm going to wait for Orange to launch their IPTV service and see what it offers.

I have Tiscali +, you would get a new box and a wireless router.

I think the box is great, you can pause and rewind live TV, you can record up to 3 channels if you have an aerial plugged in.

I've never had Sky so can't compare it, but I haven't had any problems with the speed of the box

I've got some questions about channels delivered via broadband.

How many channels delivered via broadband can you record at the same time?

Can you watch one channel such as SkyOne whilst recording another such as Paramount?

Thanks,

I was looking at this last night as I'm thinking of getting the PVR... but on returning to Tiscali's website I'm damned if I can find it - what a website

You can definitely record one channel whilst watching another, and I'm sure it said that in some cases you can even record 3 channels at the same time.

As I said, I can't find the info now And as stated elsewhere, if you get TV+ you must sign up for a new 12-month contract.

LATER... Here's something:

= = = =

You can:

* Record up to 3 programmes† at once and watch one of them which you can pause and rewind*.
* Record up to 3 programmes† and watch a previous recording.
* Record up to 2 programmes† at once and watch a 3rd (you are not recording), which you can pause and rewind*.

* Tiscali + automatically records a rolling 120 minutes of the channel you are on. When you change channel the set top box will start to record the new channel you are watching.

† If you do not have digital terrestrial aerial you will only be able to record 1 channel and watch that channel.

That implies to me that you will only be able to record and watch 1 non terrestrial channel at a time.

For instance, I would not be able to watch sky one and record FX at the same time.
