Should my peas have sprouted by now?

I've had them in 8 days (I didn't find out till after I planted that people recommend you soak them first - no mention of that gem in the instructions).

The reason I'm concerned is we had a surprise frost and I didn't manage to get any fleeces down or anything. Should I be worried or should I leave it a bit longer before considering replanting the bed (I'm an impatient bunny!)

They should be ok just give them time, as long as you only planted them about an inch deep or followed instructions on packet for depth.
You dont have to soak them as they will absorb moisture from the soil (in this country at least lol)!
Dont worry they will come through maybe take a week or two more...
All the best!

Most peas, beans and other legumes require a constant minimum temperature for about a week to germinate - so I have been told by my local gnarled gardener!

I planted legumes about 2 weeks ago - but in a cold greenhouse - and they are only just germinating. The cold spell obviously set them back.
I would suggest waiting for at least another week and then if nothing has happened above ground, gently lift away the soil and see if anything has happened below.
As they grow very quickly, you still have plenty of time to sow afresh to get peas this year.

PS I have never soaked my seeds beforehand and they always germinate fine.

I've had all sorts growing on my windowsill, but even they have taken a lot longer to come up than normal, my potatoes outside are just about sprouting and they've been in a month, peas & beans I'll wait for May for, hopefully the weather will be better then.

I've never heard of soaking seeds? I just put them in.

Cheers for the advice guys I've been reading so much gardening lore it's getting overwhelming, but it's just so interesting too! Thanks again.
