Worst Meal Disasters

Mine is - I was preparing for a dinner party once and one of the plates of food fell and upturned on the (clean) kitchen floor. There were 6 of us and I had nothing spare so I had to pick it up and re-arrange it....and serve it.

Not too bad eh? I've also served meals where my hand's slipped and I've added too much chilli or salt but everyone is always polite and never complains....

......there was the time when I was in a Chinese restauarant and I collapsed with my head in the fried rice watched by a tank full of exotic warm water fish. The staff were going to call an ambulance for me and I had to keep saying 'It's not the food...it's not the food.'
I managed to make it home and a few days later found out the reason I felt faint......I was pregnant.

Nothing wrong with food off the floor. Haven't we all done that?

So what happened next, goldberry1? Did you have a little dumpling?

I'm not too bad, but i have never mastered scones. Other cakes fine, sponges perfect, brownies divine. Scones always come out like evil frizbiees.

The first time I made baked potatoes = I just put three in a pan, [they were not ready washed] and boiled them. The water was like mud, I cleaned them up and served. My boyfriend at the time asked why they were wet, I told him "They have just come out of the water"? He laughed and I didn't know why?

I was young though. I also thought you cooked pizzas in the frying pan.

My mother decided to roast some chestnuts a couple of christmases ago but she forgot to prick them before she put them in the oven. When I went to remove them from the oven they exploded all over me! I was lucky not be be hurt really!

Other than that I've not really had disasters though I made a spaghetti bolognese for the family when I was about 15. We didn't have any beef stock cubes so I thought 2 lamb ones would be a suitable replacement. I'm a vegetarian so I didn't taste it before I served it up to the family. Judging by their reactions though it wasn't very tasty!

I left the sugar out of a carrot cake once too

I made a Chicken pasta bake for my hubby's tea - easiest recipe in the world - campbell's condensed chicken soup, sliced chicken, tinnied s/corn and peas and pasta. It was only after I finished eating that my husband pointed out I had forgotten the pasta!
