Best Type Of Fat To Use In Cooking
What is the best type of fat to use, especially for roast potatoes?
Btw, it's not goose fat

Coconut oil or lard, both can be heated very hot without becoming toxic or burning.

Lol mike, you knew i would answer this one, the best fat for potatoes IS goose fat as you well know, you have eaten them enough , but i had sunday lunch at my mums last week, and she couldnt get goose fat so she tried duck fat which was very nice too.. not as good but still tasty.

I find beef dripping is much better than goose fat for roast spuds - its a shame supermarkets don't seem to stock it.
I use olive oil if frying food in a pan. |

Yes Goose fat is really good, I also like dripping. Ground nut oil is good for anything that has to be heated to a high degree of heat.
I sometimes use lard if I'm cooking roast pork. |

Never used duck fat, but tryed the fat of a lamb once and that was lovely.
Beef dripping or goosefat also

Goose fat or dripping for roast spuds. Lard is great for frying and makes the best chips.

Never had any problems with Olive Oil, makes nice crispy skins on roast potatoes and veg brown nicely too. Not sure about the comparisons of health, but I would have thought Olive Oil would be better for you then Lard.

If I do use Lard it maybe once or twice a year so it isnt too bad. |
