Plasma vs LCD - No one ever agrees but if bigger than 42" I would defiantly go plasma.

I have the 37px80, great tv!

BUT

I think the all the px80s are HD Ready and not Full HD, at 50" I think you would want to go for the latter, have a look at the pz85 range from Panasonic.

The 50PX80 is not an old model.

The new Intelligent Frame Creation (IFC) from Panasonic in models that end PZ85B is pretty amazing. Currently available in 42 and 46 inch models with 50" to be released around september.

IFC adds frames to the standard 25 Frames Per Second (fps) to give more realistic and nature motion. It avoids the "judder" effect in any movement. Also as plasma is low pixel response time, (panasonic claim 1ms) there is no image lag.

Plasma can never be called a dated technology and I am glad Panasonic have realised this and giving us consumers a choice.

LCD is always going to be dogged by poor pixel responce time, not giving full colour pallete and viewing angle restrictions.

Well done Panasonic with the PZ85B range, it laughs at any LCD tv.

Marky boy, the PX80 has 100Hz scan but doesn't have IFC or Full 1920x1080, hence the big price difference. It really all depends on what is important to you and if you can notice the difference.

Can I suggest you go to your local Panasonic dealer and ask the see both.

Seconded but also make sure you view from the same distance you will be in your house.

Hi all,

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread, although it is still on topic but does anyone know the difference between the models ending in B and E?

I realise that the PZ85U is for the US and the PZ85E is for Europe and so there are subtle differences in upscaling and thing I believe, but I don't understand the difference between the PZ85B and the PZ85E

I think the B might be the UK model, but part from the plug, how could it differ from the E model?

I assume the question may well apply to the PX80 too, but I've only been looking at the PZ85

The B is the UK model, that's all you need to consider if you are there. Assuming you actually want a valid warranty, that is. If the suffix B is omitted, it's a B and you shouldn't even be able to obtain any other variants from inside the UK.
