Yes - Awful.

I hope there are results tonight. Although there doesn't seem to be a 'Spoilers Thread' about?

Be fair she isnt a singer its the actress Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives star, Played Lois in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and shes guest singing with the band "Band From TV" which is made up of TV stars that play gigs to make money for charity

The band for anyone intrested consist of Greg Grunberg (Matt parkman in Heroes, Weisz in Alias, The pilot in lost), James Denton (Mike in Desperate Housewives), Greg Grunberg (Drums), Bonnie Sommerville (Mona in Friends, Kicthen Confidential Star and currently in Cashmere Mafia), Hugh Laurie (House), Bob Guiney (The Bachalor) and Jesse Spencer (House, Billy Kennedy in Neighborghs)

And she is certainly much better than Miley Cirus later on in the show who is 'supposed' to be a singer.

That's the first time I've ever heard of or seen Miley Cirus, she's a bit of an Avril Lavigne wannabe.

Heart and Fergie were good though.

You are probably more aware of her as her on screen persona of Hannah Montana or as the Daughter of the Country Singer Billy Ray of "Achy Breaky heart" fame

I've heard of Hannah Montana but never seen it.

And I had no idea she was Billy Ray's daughter but I guess the last name gives it away.

Last year they showed this program during the results show? As far as I could remember anyway. This year they have dedicated 2 hours! Next year there'll be world awareness of this, as it's certainly becoming more and more popular. I'm still watching A.I

Some good performers alternating with cheesy rubbish. Good cause though.

I think this programme is incredibly touching, Annie Lennox had me in tears.

During the last Idol song I wonder why Brooke didn't have a solo section when everyone else did.

I don't think it'll come back next year- I heard that Idol Gives Back was the least watched Idol show for over 3 years! I'm not surprised. Many of us watch the show just to see the contestants sing and see the results.

The cause of Idol Gives Back is great and very moving. But I think they should just have a separate telethon with nothing to do with Idol, like our children in Need.

Annie got my tears rolling, which is when I decided to carry on watching A.I, it's very touching. Even when Simon Cowell visited the families, I had a tear in my eye.

Fair point.

It was nice to see the Idol Contestants earlier.

It would flop, even something based around the American Idol brand brings in a relatively tiny amount of money for a country with as many people and as much wealth.

The last Comic Relief for example made around £40mill ($80mill) on the night.

The last Children in need made £19mill ($38mill) on the night. The recent sports relief did the same

Idol gives back made £30mill ($60mill) by the time the results aired the next day, with audience figures much larger than than any of the above get and with a population only making £11mill more than Children In Need and Sports relief and taking £10mill less than Comic relief is pretty poor.
