Michael was never my favourite, to be fair he was improving and I thought he was quite good this week but I wasn't too surprised to see him eliminated. I think he did well to get this far o some of his earlier performances.

It's not David or Kristy's fault Michael was eliminated, so there's no need to be so harsh on Michael. They're his friends after all, and have both in my opinion been more consistent than him so far. I hope one of them will go on to win.

As for Carly, she's better than she's showing herself to be at the moment. I'm not surwe what's going on with her but I can't see her lasting much longer. I do think she can sing very well, sometimes she just doesn't.

Kristy is growing on me. I certainly prefer her to Brooke who seems to think very highly of herself.

I have always felt uncomfortable with Carly - I hate her tattoo and that was putting me off but now I think what I don't like is the shape of her mouth when she sings

I think it's ridiculous to say that the reason Michael left was because he wasn't American. It seems to be the stand by answer if anything bad happens. If that was the case wouldn't he have gone a long time ago? IMO, there were a number of reasons he went with the big one being fan complacency.

1.)He went first, which has been shown numerous times to be a factor with the voters.

2.)He'd never been in the bottom three before so it gave his fans a sense of false security.

3.)While he didn't get huge praise for his song, it wasn't all that negative either so people weren't as inclinded to think he was in trouble.

4.)People who split their votes between MJ and say DC were more worried for David since he'd had one of his worst weeks ever. Thinking MJ was safe they put more effort into voting for DC. I saw a lot of talk of that type of thing over at other boards.

5. For those fans who are easily swayed by he judges while he didn't get bad reviews he got a lot of disappointment that he didn't stay in the soul box they'd alloted for him.

Personally, he was my favorite, and I actually started voting again which I hadn't done regularly since season 1. Now that he's gone I'm not planning to watch again until the finale since he'll be back for their normal extravaganza.

It's a shame the American voters think that way, if it'strue. An Irish guy won Australian Idol a couple of years ago and has been one of the most successful of the Aus Idols to date.

I was also disappointed in Ryan Seacrest. It was an appalling thing to do at the end. Really shoddy presenting.

I think you're right, that's why he was making such a big thing about opportunies and being an imigrant.

Weirdly Kirsty's grown slightly on me as well, with Brooke completely dropping off my radar.

My problem with Carly is the slight air of desperation to win this that she seems to give off. I know they all want it very badly, but with Carly you can almost see the desperation in her eyes. It's a shame because she does have a potentially wonderful voice but as a whole, overall package, she just doesn't work.

Give me a F'n break! Carly and Syesha are hardly the best singers. And as TWO black women have won the show...your generalized statements don't hold water.

I'm glad Michael went - he was a poor man's Michael Hutchence and he looked sweaty, constipated and in pain throughout all his performances.

I wasn't surprised Michael left. What I am surprised about is the outcry that he left. He really wasn't that great. He might have deserved to stay in longer that the likes of Brooke and Kristy, but then again shows like this don't always judge just on talent.

Michael was the only one out of the guys this year who was all that, but you're right, he wasn't American and the Americans are never going to vote in huge numbers for anyone who is not one of their own. Conceited idiots that they are.

Well, speaking as a "conceited idiot," I do remember in the beginning thinking "what are these foreigners doing in an American Idol singing contest?" But, then I thought well, why not, if they have green cards. After all, we have people serving in the U.S. military, fighting and dying in Iraq and elsewhere, who aren't citizens. Surely, this issue shouldn't matter on a silly TV show.

So, leaving that aside, the reason Michael and Carly might not be generating the type of support you feel they should has more to do with the fact that 1) they aren't as good at *performing* as they are at singing. Not much stage presence, while David C has that in spades. 2) Neither of them appeal to the tweenie girl demographic that David Archuleta has sown up, and 3) in regards to Michael, as others have said, his fans didn't think he was in trouble, while many thought David C. was and, I think, their fanbases overlap.

Also, I should remind you all that many Americans love Irish/British/Australian foreign accents. I think it has a certain sex appeal, because it's "the other," and not what we typically hear. They're found to be charming. So, if you come over for a vacation, you're sure to get lots of smiles from the ladies or men ... whatever your particular "thing" is.

Simon thinks Carly is cute! From a womans point of view, I think she's very attractive. The only part of her body I wish she'd keep covered more is her right arm. And, I wish the cameras stop showing her husband. That is UGLY! The tatoos I mean. You cannot see what he looks like for all the patterns on his ENTIRE body.

As it was ridiculous Michael being voted off, it's just as ridiculous that he gets voted back! Which I know wouldn't happen. I'll miss him. Until he makes a come back!

As one of the Americans who posts on this list, I have to say that your claim is totally, totally absurd. A lot of my friends loved Michael and were rooting for him, but were put off by the very imitative version of his song this past week.

I suppose that in subsequent weeks, the reason we will have voted folks off will be because a) they're black, b) they have blond hair, c) they're Irish, d) dreadlocks, etc.
