Terri Seymour (sp), confirmed Carly will be singing Mariah Carey's Without You.

It was suggested by Simon, so at least he cant moan about bad choice

I could see her potentially doing well singing this song. Without You is not actually that demanding of a song as far as range, and I think the easy-going pace of this ballad would show off Carly's tone , wich is great in her lower register. This one is not one that can really be over-sung either, so unless she really goes off the original pattern it should be quite good.

I think Carly might be eliminated next week. She's good, but I don't think the American public "get" her. I think she would have done better on the X Factor.

I think this could be the week Carly gets her "moment".

No way to Carly being eliminated, I reckon shes bought her place in the top 6/5

If she get's through this week, I bet she does Memories or Don't Cry For Me Argentina next week.

It's the fact that she's been in the bottom two twice now that makes me think that no matter how she sings, the US public aren't voting for her.

Really?

I can imagine randy jackson saying: "Dawg... man that was oright... it started a little pitchy at the beginnin' but you sorta got back into it. [breathes in]... not hot baby... not hot."

paula will say: "first... you look great tonight. [then she'll mumble something unrecognisable]. You were in your niche."

I think she'll be in the bottom 3 for sure, even though she's got this great song, because the judges will compare it to the mariah version, and I don't think it'll be that good in comparison... but we'll see.

But the judges cant really compare, everyone is doing Mariah songs, and Simon suggested her to sing it.

True. I like her and hope she does well, but I just think America don't "get" her. We'll see.

Yes, it's probably -

a) Not being American
b) Having a husband with facial tattoos.

She's nowhere near as good as she was hyped so that is a problem for her

She has a chip the size of Bournmouth on her shoulder about her past failure

Im not sure her voice would suit that song, but I hope im pleasently surprised.

I think she'll stay though - Kristy or Syesha will deffinatly go this week.

Carly is though. She's amazing, she just hasn't brought it out yet, it's there.
I reckon Kristys safe for another week, Brooke might go this week I think

Love her or hate her, Mariah has a big voice and a huge range.
Of the remaining contestants, Syesha is the only one who could handle one of Mariah's more challenging songs, and even then, not sure she has the power, although she definitely has the tone and probably the range. She could probably manage a classy version of 'Vision of Love' or 'Someday'.Maybe we belong together or through the rain.
For the rest,I'm betting to see many of the Mariah songs that don't require an exceptional range or agility that get trotted out for showcases and karaoke competitions....
1)Without You
2)always be my baby
3)hero
4)open arms
5)I'll be there
6)against all odds
7)my all
NEW
2)its like that
3)tmb
....somehow I don't expect to hear a rendition of Fantasy, Dreamlover, or the like.

David C can rock the Journey version of open arms, David A can Jacksons his way through I'll be there, Carly will probably be very good if she makes without you her own and stays in the range of the original, and Brooke/Jason both could come up with a folky style arangement that would save them.
Syesha will get a huge song and be compared unfairly probably, but I bet she will be the standout this week.
Kristy will probably finally go home.

Kristy could do "hero" very well
