Do you think Francesca knows that she's not auditioning for a gurning show?

As she really pulls some freaky faces while singing.

Yes, I'd say she was fully aware.

I'm probably in the minority who really likes Francesca - when she's on form, I really, really enjoy her voice. Unfortunately, she seems incredibly inconsistent and unless she starts performing well every week soon, I think she'll be on the way out before long.

When Francesca's on a good night I think she's fabulous. But she is inconsistent and your performances must be consistenly good to have a career in the West End.

Which brings to mind how how she was able to perform in the West End in the past if she is so inconsistent now? Maybe it's nerves. In one VT on the website, she seems to be aware that some people were against her because of her past association with DVO.

I'll try and dig out the audio I have of her and DvO from the opening night of Rent. As far as I can remember she sounded pretty good then.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IhKKnGxZyE8 This is an audio of Fran and DVO singing a duet from Rent. Try not to be scared of those horrific orchestrations.

That's the version I have... Horrific orchestrations aside, I think Francesca sounds pretty good on that.

Abi had the same problem in the first series and had no problem at all with Blondel or a couple of hundred performances of Fame. Some people seem to have a problem hearing the tune or themselves singing due to the noise in the TV studio, the crowd noises and the backing music. which is often too loud. Its something that seems to strike irrespective of experience or how well you can sing when you get it right. Someone who understands the problems of live singing in a studio might be able to explain why some people have more problems than others though?

I thought Niamh was far more out of tune. I like Fran's voice - and she's top 3 material for me.

I know that as a professional she needs to dismiss all the negativity that's been voiced over the fact that she's appeared with DVO - but it's possible that it has affected her. Can't be easy - but she needs to put it to the back of her mind.

She sounds very good in this too- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEFAQdd2cRo

She is singing solo from about 3:00 mins. She sounds a lot more confident there than she does on the show at the moment.

I hate that Fran's being inconsistent in this show. I saw her twice in Rent and she blew me away both times. Last week she was fab, but weeks 1 and 3 have been a bit dodgy...

I hope she gets back to her awesome self soon or she'll be out! C'mon Fran!

I was the opposite and sighed a breath of relief that ALW actually picked up on the very obvious tuning issues that JB and DVO seemed to completely miss

I'm still a bit undecided about Francesca. I really enjoyed her performance last week but i do find her mouth very distracting and off putting. Its not something you would be able to see/notice on stage though i'm sure.

I was also sitting watching it thinking what on earth is all the hair pulling about

Overall she probably does have something but theres too much else going on (with her mannerisms and tuning issues) to see it properly.

I was amazed that no one mentioned Niamh's tuning issue

I do get worried about her tuning issues - but I think they are maybe down to nerves. It seems that although she's had the most professional jobs (or so we are led to believe, you never really know on these things), she appears to be the most nervous. You can see her trembling.

I like her, in that I can picture her as Nancy, but her pitchiness (to quote Randy Jackson) does put me off slightly, but I keep thinking that if she would just relax she could really be a contender

I'm with you in that minority

I watched all the Nancy's sing before I heard them speak & saw their personality as it were (which I think is what you're supposed to do ) and Francesca was my favourite based on voice.

I don't think that the fact she was/is a professional should be held against her - I pointed out to my friend that this was a show to find a Nancy, not discover new talent.

Unless Francesca really pulls it out the bag next Saturday, I wouldn't be surprised at a Keisha and Francesca bottom two...

That's exactly what I see when Samantha is performing. She goes from pretty girl to Churchill Insurance ad dog.

Isn't that how Nancy is supposed to be.

Of all the candidates Francesca strikes me as being the most like you would imagine Nancy to be i.e. pretty but not overly so and a bit more of a rough diamond than some of the other girls. Just a personal preference but I can see her making a great Nancy.

Yes I think Francesca probably looks most like a Nancy out of all of them. Pity she can't sing in tune.

She obviously can - hence her West End experience.

Perhaps it's nerves - having found herself in the sing off first week and the pressure from accusations that DVO favours her.
Whatever - I thought Niamh was far more tuneless.
