First time in this forum.

We currently own a LG Rear Projection TV. We have had it for approx 3 years. In the last few months, you can see the colours seperating and you get a blue or red outline.
Our manual says to do a manual convergance, but the menu on the TV only offers an auto convergence and does nothing to fix this problem.

We are asking here first as to take it to a qualified reapirer is at least 1 1/2 hour drive away and they are charging $120.00, just to take the cover off and have a look.

Any one able to offer any tips before we pack it up and go to the service centre?

Presumably this is a CRT rear projector?, not an LCD one?.

Historically they haven't been very reliable, and failure of the large power amplifier IC's that drive the convergence coils are common - so it's probably a repair job I'm afraid.
