The latest reject Ian Stringer admits serious financial problems.

Oh well, I'm sure all those tabloid interviews and possible TV appearances will help keep the wolves away from the door.

Is there no-one that will give this chap a job?

Well he's a cute lad but that's about the only thing he has going for him!

Watched the repeat of the programme yesterday and I was shocked at just how appalling he was with no skills whatsoever. Yes, Kevin was annoying and full of bullshit and couldn't plan properly but at least he could hold his own better and had more authority.

I feel a bit sorry for Ian - why does he go round with this 'I'm not a loser' attitude when he blatantly is. Be honest with yourself and work on your issues!

In the previous series, wasn't there a candidate who'd been bankrupt 2 or 3 times? He still acted as if he were God's gift to the world of business, though.

I don't get this. I thought he still worked for BBC 3 counties radio as a sports pundit very very recently, so he can't be that poor and out of work. Someone's telling porkies, surely?

The news of the world says that he worked in some IT firm and he lost that job going onto the apprentice.. I think the radio work was a sideline, and he says he will lose that too.. silly man.

The way the economy is tanking there could be a lot of ex Apprentice types facing bankruptcy. Several of them are big in 'property' - and they always say pride comes before a fall.

He can't say 'loser' and yet he is one. Ironic!

Ian came across very badly in the show. Firstly I am shallow and in terms of appearance I really dont like the whole hair straightened/TopMan cardigan thing that guys like him have going on. Secondly, in terms of performance he was woeful - he did really badly on the task ... it was purely his ineptness that kept Kevin in it. From lack of costings/planning/expensive marketing/dismissal of all Simon's valid points - he barely did anything right!!! Then on YBF he came across as bland and without the redeemable features that usually make contestants appealing. Now all this newspaper stuff is not making him look great. He should just say .. "I am an ordinary person, who has made mistakes, who needs some help." But this whole special thing/I am a winner, is really irritating.

I'm not surprised the boy's in financial strive, nor am I surprised employers wouldn't want to touch him with a barge pole.

Ian has no business know-how whatsoever

But honestly, wouldn't it be boring if they were all tremendously nice and modest and efficient, and when someone becomes team-leader, they all stand behind him four-square, and no one bitches or argues. And if the team loses, the leader says: "I take full responsibility for this failure. I had a great team and I let them down. I refuse to take anyone into the boardroom with me."
And then the rest of the team say (fighting back the tears) what a great person he is, and how it's been the best time of their lives, and that they've learned so much about themselves, and they're going to remain friends forever.......

(You can tell I watched 'Dancing on Ice' once or twice.

Thats what I was thinking, too. Poor guy, but really, if you're going to say something stupid like "I can't say loser. And I won't!" then you better be damn good at life.

Re the sport on local radio thing... local radio pays really, really badly - if they pay at all! Lots of contributors to local stations offer their services (film reviewing, gardening tips etc) free, either for fun, or for the exposure for their business or whatever.

I thought Ian was dreadful, but did feel sorry for him that even his dad didn't stick up for him on You're Fired! Not sure even that glass-collecting job would be there for him.

How does he get on with Sports reporting if he can't say lose?

Presenter: "So now we cross over to Ian Stringer for an update on the match. Ian how is the team getting on?"

Ian: "Well they're not winning."

P: "Drawing?"

I: "No, they're err.....the other one."

P:"Losing?"

I: "I'm not familiar with that word, it's not in my vocabulary."

He says in this NOTW article (http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/appr...1304_ian.shtml) that the local radio stuff pays him £20,000 a year! Not at all bad for a part time job!

He sounds an absolute whinge-bag misery guts in that article mind you.

Does noone else feel a bit sorry for him?

Its obvious hes made a massive mistake dumping his wife and kids. His family have turned against him because of it. Its all over the papers, makes him look a right div. He got fired in Week 3 - pathetic. Got fired from his previous better paid job, and now he's desperately trying to convince the public how happy he is with his lower paid job and new airhead girlfriend.

But he's a tool so probably deserves it.

I am really, really sceptical about that claim. I know people working full time in local radio broadcast journalism who earn less than that.... and he hasn't exactly got a good track record re being truthful.

He's terrified of seeming to be a loser in front of his father. He is a loser and he knows he is, but the extreme pressure he puts himself under to win his father's approval have forced him to create a world of fantasy where he cannot lose, because losing to him would be to lose his father's love and to lose his father's love would be like losing his life.

I think a psychoanalyst would have a field day with him, although I doubt he is clinically insane.
