I am think of buying one of these TV's over the weekend. Does anyone have one and what do you think. As it is a 100Hz TV, will it be ok for use with my Xbox?

Also, I have seen a KV28FX66 in the stores, but cannot find it on the Sony website, does anyone know if this is a better TV or is it discontinued?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi GillW,
I have just bought one of these sony sets from John Lewis in London together with their automatic 5 year guarantee. It will take a while to be delivered but I will post a reply when I have unpacked it and played with it at home.

The set is on the Sony website at:
http://products.sony.co.uk/productde...sp?id=2_1_2411

Although there is not much information there. If you want the tech specs get your hands on a sony style guide which has a booklet inside with all 2003 sony product specs.

It took me a long time to select this set, I hope I have made a good choice. Anyone out there like to give some feedback on this set?

HI ScouseJim,

Thanks for the reply. Since posting I have now taken the plunge and ordered this TV from John Lewis Solihull. I also got the free warranty and a free Sony DVD player - what a deal!.

Hope you enjoy the TV, mine's coming Thursday!!

I got this TV about 2 weeks ago as a replacement for my KV28 DX30 which had broken. I got a Panasonic TUCT20 freeview box as well. Overall I am happy with the TV and the box. The picture from the two is IMO better than the digital picture from the KV28 DX30. The only downside I have found is the location of the Scart inputs on the back of the set have meant that my super duper IXOS scart lead has to be used with my digital box rather than my DVD due to the restricted space between the two inputs and the shape of the scart connecter on the cable. My other scart cable goes straight in and out rather than to the side so that is fine and the quality is up there with the IXOS so I'm not too bothered. I am not using the TV's sound as I have a seperate AMP (HTK 215) so I can only comment on the picture.

Bit of a ramble there.

One thing that I have just though of, does anyone know where to get the code for the Sky Digital Remote from?

The strange thing about the FX68 is that because it does not have Digital Plus 100hz it does not eliminate flicker all that much, i compared the flicker to a 50hz DX40 and the flicker is only "slightly better".

This 100hz tv was much better for purity and picture quality (with the DNR switched on the picture is fantastic!)

To be honest with you the only reason i did not get the higher FQ70 is because even though that is a digital plus model with 100% flicker free picture due to VPS, it had alot more smearing then the standard 100hz FX68.

"I viewed them side by side with the same source"

I think most enchancments like the extra flicker reduction (VPS) (Digital Plus) even though they may keep on screen EPG'S & white bar lines perfectly stable they still add many problems to the picture.

I give this brilliant quality tv 10/10

If you ever buy a Sony TV that does have 100hz Digital Plus make sure you can switch it off as some sets don't let you do this and if like me you hate smearing you won't be happy.

So this picture has digital noise reduction which when turned off eliminates the smearing you might get when watching a footie game? If so, im getting one!
But when watching normal TV and DVD's its best to have this turned on?

I recently got a new Sony set and the code to programme the Sky remote was '000'

I got this from the list that came with my replacement remote [kids 'ate' the last one...]

works fine.

hope that helps.

i've had a 32" FX^* for about 4-5 months. its a great tv. its one hell of a big mo fo to lift (arhh, me back)

it has a classy design as expected from a Sony. the picture quality is great through scart (using a AR performance scart lead). the picture quality isnt as good as my old 32" philips pixel+ set (but that had a whole host of problems!! )). its a decent tv, nice sound, only wish the subwoofer had more of a kick.
