The Final
18.50- Britain’s Got Talent – The Final: 11.0m (51.1%) *peak: 13.0m (57.4%) at 20.00
21.30- Britain’s Got Talent – The Final Result: 13.1m (55.1%) *peak: 13.7m (57.2%) at 21.45

Amazing figures for Britain's Got Talent. The most watched show of 2008. The most watched episode of a talent show this century (beating the previous record held by the Pop Idol 1 Final). The most watched episode of a non-soap tv show since 2004 (I'm A Celebrity...).

This series of BGT got an overnight average of 9.6m (42%). That's higher than any other talent show series this century. It easily beats last year's BGT series overnight average of 8.0m (33.6%). It also easily beats last year's X Factor series average: 8.2m (37%) and SCD series average: 8.7m (38%).

This is just proves viewers still want to watch reality shows. BGT series 2 has been a phenomenal success. When the officials all come out the series average could be 10.0m().

I reckon we use this thread for the upcoming series. Considering they are sticking with the same panel, how well do you think it'll do in the ratings?

If you think those are good, look at the ratings for series 3 in 2009 (that was when ITV +1 & HD didn't exist):

Auditions 1 (11/4) - 11.21m
Auditions 2 (18/4) - 12.95m
Auditions 3 (25/4) - 13.21m
Auditions 4 (2/5) - 11.30m
Auditions 5 (9/5) - 11.98m
Auditions 6 (16/5) - 11.09m
Auditions 7 (23/5) - 12.62m
Semi-Final 1 (24/5) - 12.93m
Semi-Final 2 (25/5) - 14.66m
Semi-Final 3 (26/5) - 13.56m
Semi-Final 4 (28/5) - 13.11m
Semi-Final 5 (29/5) - 13.84m
Final (30/5) - 16.36m
Final Results - 18.29m

Well, ITV have just confirmed a 7pm start for the launch on 13th April, meaning it is up against most of The Voice.

How well do you think it'll do? I think with Ant & Dec doing so well with Saturday Night Takeaway (which they will get a boost from), we could potentially be looking at a 10-11m average and a 12m peak - I don't see why not.

Think that's pretty optimistic, considering the clash with The Voice I can see somewhere between 9m and 10m with a peak of nearly 12m once The Voice ends at 8:15.

Having said that though ITV have been running a lot of ads for BGT lately, particularly in the middle of Corrie so who knows.

They are obviously going all out to promote it which is a good thing.

SNT happened to beat The Voice, BGT should be able to dent it badly - though you never know, like last year, both BGT and The Voice could end up with similar ratings despite the clash.

The difference being though that last year The Voice was massive, beginning to average over 10m in the overnights and even then BGT still managed to hold it's own.

Last week when The Voice and Saturday Night Takeaway (a much smaller show than BGT) fully clashed SNT went away barely dented, so I can see BGT thrashing The Voice by a few million. I'm going to go for a rough prediction of 8.5m vs 5m, give or take .5m either way.

It's a shame for the BBC really, for the next 8 weeks or so they're going to have a really hard time with The Voice. They should have aired it in January when there's no real competition.

I can't see BGT below 9m at least, in effect it should really be over 10m, 11m if they are really lucky. BGT is ITV's ratings juggernaut of the spring so they'd definitely want it to go well.

With the show starting on 13th April, that puts it with a date of 1st June for the final based on the schedules of previous series - 7 weeks of auditions, semi-finals that coming week then the final on Saturday.

With The Voice now moved to 8:20 on the 20th with BGT at 7pm, and just a 10 minute overlap, do you think BGT will still manage good ratings?

bgt will still win

Its more of a family show and people like to laugh at the funny acts etc..

I think The Voice have made a big mistake by putting the show on 10 minutes before BGT is over. I personally think Britains Got Talent will destroy it.

Previous launch ratings:

2007 - 4.9m (22.7%)
2008 - 8.8m (37.0%) * peak: 9.8m (40.4%)
2009 - 10.52m (45.1%), *peak: 11.81m (50.1%)
2010 - 10.6m (44.0%), *peak: 12.17m (49%)
2011 - 9.95m (40.5%) , (+1: 495k), *peak: 11.58m (45.9%) (inc +1)

Worst rating opening episode since 2008.

Just because of the 7pm slot? It wasn't badly received last year so I don't see why it would drop a million being up against The Voice.
