Earlier slot, much tougher competition than usual, and less buzz this year due to no new judges or Cowell's biography causing headlines.

I think it will get higher ratings than last year.

We'll just have to wait and see - I think the main thing to look out for is how many replies the show thread has compared to last year's (from the show's beginning to the show's end).

Going for 9.5m may be lower doesn't seem as much buzz about it this year compared to last year

They have promoted it well. It all depends on the acts and the show in general. Word of mouth and all that.

I see not getting worried yet waiting until tomorrow morning when the ratings come out.

TV isn't competition just cannon fodder. There are an couple of Susan Boyle moments tonight one in particular will have millions of views on You Tube straight after.

You and people who work on BGT dont understand what a "Susan boyle" moment is. It is the kind of moment which will not happen again in tv in our generation, it was when people at the time mistakenly thought an ugly old spinster couldnt sing well, and aided with some background music, some good shots of Cowell rolling his eyes and a tale about how shes never kissed anyone or about her only feeding her cats as well as quite good singing, it blew up at a time when social media was blowing up. They used that trick to domestic success with Paul potts a couple years prior and then with the aid of social media and increased marketing, they really cracked it internationally with Susan boyle.

The "two moments" in tonights show you refer to is a disabled kid doing some pretty good standup and a young 11 year old singing very well. These are not "Subo moments" no matter what the Itv spin department want to make them out like. Neither of these two contestants are being pre-judged before they perform, especially not the disabled kid which would reflect extremely badly on the show if he was seen being pre-judged just because he had a disability. Neither have a weird background of being a 49 year old spinster or something about them which will make the press or world going mad about them. Theyre good contestants but arent "Susan boyle" moment type of contestants who will get dozens of millions of Youtube hits and masses of press coverage over the next two months. The kid standup comedian in particular will not have international appeal due to the Britishness of his comedy so wont have anywhere near as much youtube hits as a singer which translates well worldwide.

Susan boyle moment will never happen again no matter how many times Itv and cowell tries to recreate it. So you need to move on from that.

You don't know that yet. Regarding 'SuBo' moments, I would consider Jonathan & Charlotte to be one sort of, especially after what Simon said as they came on.

Those who think tonight's show will have the worst ratings for many years or whatever - I hope you are proven wrong tomorrow morning

Worth remembering when Paul Potts came along that was without Twitter which wasn't around in 2007 then Susan Boyle came along. Both are world wide stars because of BGT not the editing, that's two stand out moments.something TV has yet to find and can only dream of

The 11 year old singer will be a "Subo moment" because of the surprise element and now rare it
is for a kid her age to sing like that.

BGT will destroy TV tonight. There there been no buzz in The Voice forum since it returned with discussion threads created within 5 minutes of the show starting

Yeah garryessex, not good so far from what I seen. Theyre laughing at a one trick comedian joking about his disability. Funny after 1 joke but not the sixth time. And he's supposed to be one of the favourites to win and supposed to be a "Susan boyle moment" - LOL!

Just seen this 11 year old singer, good for her age, but defo no Subo moment. They didnt even show her backstory! Thats because she's well known among the circuit, singing in Open Mic Uk competitions all around the UK and she auditioned 2 years ago on the show so is well known by Cowell and Holden. It'll get a million or two youtube hits but definiately won't go viral.

Also theres loads of buzz on twitter right now for Voice. No. of tweets so far:

SecondSync ‏@SecondSync 10m
.@NeilMidgley BGT 89k The Voice 78K

Voice is running BGT close in social media even though BGT is the launch and voice is its 3rd episodre.

There will never be another Subo moment to the same degree, which was a supremely manipulated moment anyway.

However the little girl is one of those areas that BGT is a step ahead of The Voice and why BGT is perhaps seen as a bit more fun for a family audience. Very few people will know about her circuit history and the cute factor isnt going to be found on TVUK.

Very strange act to finish the show off with. A singer with a pretty good vioce but hardly an uplifting song or anything special. An opener like this should finish off on a high but she wasnt even the best contestant of the episode. Bit of poor editing and not a great way to finish off an episode when your trying to tempt viewers to watxch the following week

Do you not have anything better to do with your time than watch a TV show that you clearly don't like (and its in series 7 now so I think you'll have made your mind up on it by now!) just to slag it off?

Still think it'll easily crack 10m.

They would have had their audience anyway-their own and people turning over from TVUK. Not sure it mattered who was on to be honest.
It would be astonishing if BGT was to lose out -the later scheduling fot TVUK next week is miles better for it. The next series needs to be from January imo.

You're going to be disappointed tomorrow morning. It will most likely get around 8m at best.

BGT is fine, I like it more than XFactor. But surely a very strange way to finish off the show with a singer who didnt sing an uplifting song? Very unorthodox, in the past its been an incredible performance which has finished off the opening show. As for the young comedian and 11year old singer, I stand by what I said, neither are Subo moments or anywhere near that.

Well what can anyone say is wrong about this? I would say it's spot on!
