Sorry to rebump this thread if nobody is interested in it anymore - I guess people will be once Scala have played though.
First; something I want to comment on:

Someone I was watching with was claiming that ALL the noises were being made from the girls themselves....but I'm far from convinced. I doubt you can get a sound like that from a stringed instrument, no matter how talented you are.”
The percussion was a backing track; obviously. But you can get some really unexpected sounds out of the instrument. Which is kind of why I prefer Bond and don't regard Scala as highly.
If we take Bond's track Explosive. Here:

* This is the music video; not a live performance *
Throughout the song you can hear a deep sound that blends a bit with the percussion - it sounds almost like an electric guitar/some kind of sample. It's really obvious at the start of the track in a higher pitch - then its deeper throughout. I always assumed it was an instrument the girls are not playing or a sample.
I then saw this live and noticed, the girl with the Cello is making that sound - which is quite shocking I think.
It's kinda obvious at the start of the track and then further in she does a few repititions of it with the last two notes being a higher pitch and its more recognisable as a cello.
Also, some of the notes ~ 140 that sound like an acoustic guitar are also coming from the cello by playing the strings with her fingers.
The segment at around 2:00 with the "fanfare" is obviously just that. Not the quartet, the sound effects are also samples.
So its a mixture of sound effects, backing (percussion and at one point additional support for the fanfare) and the girls playing both traditionally and "experimentally" for want of a better word.
It's their ability to bring these elements together into a piece that works that makes Bond great along with their ability to create sounds you would not expect to get out of the instruments.
Scala are good; but after hearing a few of Scalas tracks online; I fear they are not quite capable of performing to Bond's calibre - which if Scala were to win it; could cause a slight problem in their space as Bond are pretty much established as the standard.
Basically; to compare I think Scala need to get one hell of an arrangement together or outside of the competition - I don't know that they will do as well.

It's not that it irks me; I just find it hard to put a high regard onto these girls as what I see as the standard in that genre is leagues ahead of Scala. If you check Bond's Duel:

That was their debut performance, which kinda puts it into perspective I think.
If they can match up to Bond I will really buy into Scala as I like that crossover genre; but if they don't then... I don't know... I'd feel as if they were the lesser immitation. Does that make sense?
Actually, Bond are better looking too me thinks.

Not that it matters.
