Hi folks, having moved my tv to the other side of my living room, i have had to install one of those nasty cheap cable kits for an extension of my aerial. Now the thing is i had to buy a aerial booster that done the trick on the first day! (freeview picture was great) but then it didnt boost at all! i took it back and got a new booster thinking it was that! yet again on first day new booster done the trick! and then yet again it was as if it wasnt boosting on 2nd day!

Is it my booster thats knackering (hard to see as now my 3rd booster has done the same) or is it my philips tv somehow? or that of my wharfedale freeview box?

Thanks for any advice folks, much appreciated!

A strange one indeed, does the booster have a gain control (A little knob you can turn from left to right) or is it a straight forward flat gain model (No knob)?

Was your picture okay before you moved the TV? If so then I would suspect that there is a problem with the extension cable/connectors as there shouldn't be that much difference. Also rather than buy a cheap cable kit you would be better off with a decent cable and connectors (they are still cheap) rather than a booster.

If you need a booster it's better nearer the aerial - the loft is usually fine.

Yeh its a gain control, when testing out normal tv (non digital) when turned too strong the picture has interference like lines across the screen. i reckon it might be the cheap cable kit, although works fine on my mothers, same set up.
