A salad to go alongside spag bol
I have some uninvited guests descending on me later and although I have a big pot of spag bol to offer I want to serve a salad on the side.
Nothing too fancy - normally I will have garlic bread or stir fried veg, as I am not a big salad eater .Any ideas for a simple-ish, complimentary salad will be much appreciated |

A packet of rocket, a few spring onions sliced lengthways, shredded Serrano or Parma ham and shavings of Parmesan - toss together and dress with basil oil, lemon juice and balsamic vinegar.

Just serve watercress. (I mean proper watercress, not that tiny stuff you can grow on blotting paper!)

Rocket, shavings of parmesan cheese, drizzle over with good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. In fact that sounds so bloody lovely I'm going to do it myself tonight for dinner.

I really like a simple caesar salad with spaghetti.
And I think I'm going to have that for dinner now too... |

How about some nice mixed leaves, including some baby spinach with halved cherry tomatoes, julienned cucumber, and either cubed feta or bufallo mozarella. Drizzle it all with a honey and balsamic dressing and fresh ground black pepper.

...or, my favourite is - diced cucumber, diced onion, chopped up tomato (without the seeds) and grapes tossed in a balsamic dressing with black pepper and a touch of french mustard.

Ithink something sweet and light: shredded carrots with Balsamic winegar. Or iceberg lettuce with a few olives and whatever condiment you like (also a light vinaigrette: simple winegar and three parts of oil).
