I currently am waiting to get a new oven hopefuly a dual fuel 1 with gas hob. I am using a microwave for all my dinners as it has a fan assisted conventional over built in as well as a George Foreman Roasting Machine.

Anyway getting back to topic, I have always wanted to do chinese cooking & wondered if the electronic woks are any good or not ?.

In my experience you can never get an Electric Wok to the high heat level needed to stir fry
A gas hob is the only way. Mine has got a special Wok Burner on it. I put my wok on it for a good 5 mins before I start to stir fry.

Yeah.. agreed.

I don't have a wok burner but I do have a wok stand that you put on the burner

Also don't get a non stick one, get a good quality steel one and season it properly.

My wok is nearly 20 years old now

Gas as others have said is the best and as you are getting a gas hob you will be sorted.
