No back-stabbing qualities are good in business. These people (Claire especially, Katie last series) think they are going to win by doing it, but hopefully Sir Al will see through it - If i was him i wouldn't hire a sneaky backstabber even as an office junior.

A good employee supports his/her boss and does what they are asked to do to the best of their abilities.

I know I hate the way they all think they have to be horrible to get ahead. I can't remember which one but in the interview profile thing each contestant gives one of them said something along the lines of

"I can pretend to be nice but at heart I'm horrible", surely it's better to actually be a nice person, who sometimes has to take hard decisions

Also did you hear the silence and see the looks on the others faces when Claire announced she was going to be team leader

I bet Claire was one of those bitches at school that hangs around with a group of other bitches and makes vulnerable peoples lives a misery. People like her should not be in the apprentice and I can't believe she was saved last night but then again she is good tv entertainment and that is what drives these shows more than anything else.

I think she stayed because Simon had to go. In Sir Alan's mind he'd given him his chance and he blew it. If Claire screws up next week she's gone. Simon seems to be a very affable chap, but completely neurotic when in charge of a task. Claire and Alex were completely unprofessional the way they undermined him and I believe that Claire did not relay the seriousness of the situation on the shop floor as she was happy for Simon to fail. Really, Simon failed because he gave Claire such a vital role. IF he'd given it to Sara he might not have failed.

I had never thought of it like that before, but what you say makes perfect sense. Simon had to go cos Siralan give him the chance to prove himself worthy & at the end of the day he couldn't hack it. So he had to go. I think if he had proved that he could do it Claire might well have gone.
I hope Claire goes next week if she fails to prove she can actually be a decent human being and work alongside people instead of just being negative.

I think she came cross ok, I don't get what the big deal is about. The entire show is filled with self obsessed, negative and self serving people, she seems no different to the others.

Claire seems to hate it when she's not the leader. She was narky with Sara as well, who said she just wanted to tell her to STFU - don't we all!

And I don't think Claire came across as brave in the boardroom. She came across as desperate, she was really annoying and did not know when to shut up.

She clearly rehearsed some of the things she was going to say before going into the boardroom, like the "spontaneously combust" comment about Simon. She even repeated this exact phrase in an interview with the camera crew people, it was shown on You've Been Fired. I think she's trying to be the new Katie and she thinks she's really witty and funny. She's not, she's just a stupid bitch.

Alas poor Simon didn't know how to handle the agendas of Claire and Alex Simon who from the start of the task had no respect for Simon and clearly thought that under his leadership they were doomed to failure and they had to identify the scapegoat from the start.

Simon didn't realise he had to keep those two under close observation and crucially he should have given Sara an important role whereas her positive contribution was wasted in some minor role subordinate to himself. She didn't need to be supervised, the other two did, alas, as he explained in the your fired programme, he had some strange strategy of putting the people who were most intent on undermining him in crucial roles. Baaaaaaaaddd ideaaaaa!

I agree with what you're saying. Though Simon seemed like one of very few decent people in there, he was the right person to be fired, as essentially he didn't lead well. From what we saw, it didn't seem like Claire properly told Alex and Jenny just how bad it was all getting, all i remember seeing was her telling them simon's stressing out and its like he's on drugs, but to me it seemed like that was just her trying to undermine him, constantly picking on the fact he's 'emotional'. However, Alex was lying when he said he had no idea, he just didn't know to the full exnent how bad it had turned.

Last week she undermined Sara, and this week it was Simon.

What a nasty piece of work she is.

She was not particularly supportive I didn't think - she and Alex were very snidey towards Simon and seemed to me to want the task to fail as Simon was the Team Leader - so they knew he would be in the firing line. However - even though I think her card is marked by SAS - I could see why he fired Simon - he is looking at it from a business point of view and like he said Simon is a grafter but not a leader. Nice guy though and he came over well on 'your're fired'.

I would have asked for a refund if I was on a holiday where Claire was a holiday rep. Mind you, I wouldn't choose to go on an 18-30s holiday. Ghastly person.

Do you think she is stupid? Why? It seemed to me she led well on the first task (in the worst circumstances), had good points about the Bollywood theme in the pub grub task. And she was right about Simon being autocratic (and it wasn't just her and Alex saying it), and about the photo tracking going wrong, and about almost everything else. She's a strong candidate. Her only problem is that she knows it, and sometimes lacks humility when dealing with people less able than herself.

She's stupid enough to display her bitchy machinations on screen and in front of Margaret/Nick...hence she was pulled up on it and floundered. She is semi-smart in a business style but not hugely - she thought Sara's Bollywood would not work, but it did so she's not a goof projector either.

One of her criticisms of Sara's Bollywood is that they would have trouble with the exotic cooking. As they did. It led to them having to cancel lunch. If the boy's team hadn't self-destructed so spectacularly, failing to serve lunch could easily have cost the girls the task. So Claire was actually right there.

Machinations? What machinations? She's been free with her criticisms, but she's also worked hard on the tasks and done her best to support her project leader with her helpful advice. She may not be very self-aware as to how she comes across, but I wouldn't call her stupid.

I actually think Claire made a number of sound points in the Bollywood task.

Sara was so hellbent on going ahead with this theme that she shut her brain down to the practicalities, i.e. none of them had had any experience of cooking Indian food.

It was only because the boys made a mess of their budget that the girls took the victory.

I agree with you, it is all down to viewing figures, Alex is kept for the female watchers because twice he has been in the BR and twice he could have been fired

I tend to agree with this post. I wouldn't say that Claire is someone I would choose as a friend, as she doesn't have an instantly attractive personality, but I think she did have some valid points.

Some candidates can have a tendency to stay quiet and give the project manager enough rope. To me that is worse than being bolshie and speaking up. A lot of projects fail in business because someone didn't speak up at the right time.

To me Alex was more culpable. He was sulky and less constructive in providing support to Simon.

But I didn't see her giving Simon her wholehearted support. Amazed SAS didn't boot her out

I liked her a lot, as some on these boards know I have defended before. Sadly after last week, she is now down there with the likes of Helene and Kevin. She is a rude, aggressive and pushy biatch that needs to be slapped down. I think she was inches away from being fired last week, it was just that last minute guff that saved her.
