Simon was on E24 this morning - good book he mentioned too, very interesting though very long!!.
The show is usually repeated over the weekend on News24 but you can also see it here, about 13 minutes in:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7355751.stm
(I love the iPlayer!)

Interestingly, he wasn't on the Friday Night Project last night - the first fired candidate this year not to be. I'm actually glad he wasn't as while that coat of cash, running into the audience thing is alright for Big Brother evictees, it sort of cheapens the Apprentice, which is supposed to be a more serious show.

(I'm taking this to be a sort of general 'Simon Appreciation Thread' now btw, rather than just a love-in for the ladies and certain gentlemen who are that way inclined )

Thanks for that link...will check it out a bit later.

I loathe the FNP for that reason, tbh, so yeah I'm glad Simon was notable for his absence...

He's come across better now he's left the programme. Alan was right he was way out of his depth.

His management of his team was awful. He just talked at them and not with them. "I'm in charge, I'm brilliant at this and just let me take all the glory".

Er no.

Interesting blog that identifies part of Simon's failing;

Only someone who knows nothing about IQ tests would say that....

It's perfectly possible, in reality.

Why not? Just because he didn't do well in the PM does not mean he doesn't have a high IQ. He migiht be an Essex boy, but in the 4 episodes he had momemtns of being intelligent, also I must admit I was surprised at how articulate he was (sorry Essex folk!). 'Wordsmith' Raef was stuck for words and Simon was able to come to his rescue, and there's a great web clip where he says 'salubruous' and none of the others know the meaning of this word. He's smart, but just not a natural leader (again, he loved being led by Raef in the laundrette task which initially shocked me as I thought he'd hate a toff like Raef, however he's been brainwashed by army life to take orders)

Simons on the front page of DS talking about his time with drugs.

The guys got a lot of inner strenght to turn his life round the way he has.

Interesting article there.
Obviously we knew he'd had problems but personally I didn't realise how severe they were or that he'd been married before and his wife left him - all pretty shocking.

I guess it says a lot for him as a person that he's been able to get through all that and get settled down as he is now.
Good on him.

Nice to see him getting back to work too, in his satellite installing get-up! Doesn't really have a bad word to say about any of the other contestants either, despite the backbiting.
I wish him all the best anyway! Hopefully he'll be able to get something out of this.

Yeah, I agree...his honesty and humility are refreshing qualities....certainly not things one would normally associate with the Apprentice candidates!!!

His certainly had do battle with his inner demons and the fact that he came out on top is commendable.

He's lovely
Really sorry he's gone & we won't be seeing him tonight
finding it hard to warm to any of the others & I honestly don't think anyone can match him in the likeability stakes

I just got around to reading his exit interview on the BBC, and this comment made me chuckle:

Quote:
“I went through the audition process with Raef and from the first moment I met him, he was a diamond. We shared a room and on task two we had some great banter between us. One day, he's going to take me to a gentleman's club, and I'm going to get him an ASBO.”

Oh, I really missed him tonight. When they had a few minutes' clip of him at the beginning it left a little lump in my threat (I bet it left one in Esqualita's, too).

Still enjoying the programme, but none of the men can hold a candle to Simon!

It did. I was crying into my whisky.

Yeah, I still enjoyed the show, but I do think it's not the same without Simon...especially when Alex and Claire were on the screen all the bleeding time to rub salt in the wounds!
