I'm afraid I just couldn't resist posting this on the JB appreciation thread:

Just watched the clip, I am surprised - JB has a very good voice, but awkward manerisms and is inconsistent -- sometimes (like the clip) he hits a home run but sometimes he strikes out.

I'm sure the gloom that has descended upon our household will soon lift especially if we receive some positive Jessie news.

The gloom is slowly subsiding but I think the annoyance that CM potentially stopped Jessie from winning by being so anti-Jodie and saying ridiculous things about Jodie being 'too big' will take far, far longer.

Jodie did win because they did have a go at her weight, even if she was to big the kind of Nancy they wanted. They did a story about her losing all her weight and that's another reason she won. I know people liked her singing and stuff but I do believe a lot of people voted for her to win because of what I just said, I heard a man on the radio today saying he wanted her to win because she was really nice which she was but not a reason to win.

Jessie is not the first and won't be the last person to lose out to these sentimental stories, I'm sure Rhydian knows what Jessie has gone through but Jessie is a fighter and will pick herself up and get herself a lead role very very soon

thats the most frustrating thing though, nancy was jessie's part, after seeing her perform ALAHNM its going to be criminal not seeing her on the west end singing it. talking of frustrating i still don't get how people still say she is inconsisten, can't move of stage, can't act etc

They all wear rose tilted glasses, a lot of them are probably big fans of John B and DVO and just agree with everything they say, the people saying she can't act are living on cloud cuckoo land unless they're idea of acting is Eddie Murphy in Norbit

you're right i don't bother arguing now, when you give them actual facts, they never write back

on her facebook fan page, someone reckons she's got a callback to play maria in westside story, do you reckon this is could be true or more likely rumours?

don't think it can be true, wikipedia says:

The West End revival begins July 22, 2008 at the Sadler's Wells in London. Directed by Joey Mckneely and produced by BB promotion.

Now in 2008, 50 years after the show made its London debut, Joey Mkneely's vibrant new stage production of the classic dance musical arrives after wild critical acclaim in Tokyo, Paris and Beijing.

Starring: Sofia Escobar as Maria, Scott Sussman as Tony, Lana Gordon as Anita, Leo Ash Evens as Riff, Marco Santiago as Bernardo, Sara Dobbs as Anybodys, Julian Alvarez as Chino and John Arthur Greene as Action.

Good Post.
Jodie is lovely & a success story, a triumph of the underdog if you like, I think many voted because of this.
However as a huge fan of Jessie I must say she deserved to win this on her extraordinary talent, her 'star quality' to quote ALW and because she would have made the Nancy role her own ~ new, raw, edgy, energetic & with her special charm which so many people did recognise on Saturday night.

I hope she takes heart from the fact that she is a star to many of us and I for one am looking forward to her West end debut

This bit says it all

While Jessie consistently got the best reviews, Jodie Prenger had already established herself as people’s favourite following a previous TV contest in which she publicly won the battle of the bulge, losing eight stone.

I never saw that. I think she already had a few fans from the show though. Being the winner and all.
I watched a bit on youtube, she trully did loose a lot of weight. Who knew she could sing aswell.
Plus she was the nicest in the house apparantly on both accounts. That is a good way to win fans and her story is what got her through in the end.
Oh but apparantly Jessie's story was a sob story I actualy voted for Jess becuase I think she was the best singer and very consistant. Apart from fighter of course.
She also suited the part. I knew she would prove her self with ALAHNM.

I think both of them were earmarked from the beginning - remember how each were filmed in the audition stages? Especially Jodie, they devoted loads of time to her.

Me too please! Thanks.

This is nothing to do with Jessie but I thought some kind fellow fan might know the answer. It's been really bugging me. The Joes lost their coats and the Nancys their lockets, but what did the Marias lose, if anything?

I just can't remember!
