Unfortunatley Jessie lost!
Jodie was the better of the two! Jessie's acting was shocking! |

You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time (or something like that.
)OK it's tantrum time.... ![]() I want to see Jessie perform as Nancy. I don't think I'm the only person that feels as though this situation is unfinished business. Infact, there are alot of people out there who voted week after week (I spent a small fortune ) who will only be truly satisfied when they've seen her perform as Nancy. Yes it would be great to see Jessie in another production, although I don't think 'Cabaret' is the perfect vehicle for her at the moment. However, for me personally Nancy is Jessie and I won't be a happy bunny until I see Jessie treading the boards in her dickension frock bringing the character of Nancy to life.Jodie in 6 shows and Jessie in 2 shows a week surely would please the majority. Lets hope it happens. ![]() |

I don't see why the votes would have to be refunded, the votes were essential for jodie, without the show jodie would never have been nancy, as she wasn't what cameron was looking for, and her fans would never have got to see her perform the role, thanks to the show and the votes they will be able to see her perform six of the eight shows

I completely agree too. She epitomised Nancy for me so much so that I too spent a small fortune voting for her, she could have been so perfect in that role. As you say, this situation is unfinished business especially as no-one will forget how much CM wanted her as Nancy and ALW dubbed her as an extraordinary performer with the sacred star quality. Jessie will one day (soon hopefully) take to the stage as Nancy and we'll all be very happy chappies!
![]() exactly, to never be able to witness her ALAHNM on stage would be criminal

But there were 12 contestants. Surely if the point was to please the majority then all the girls would get to do some of the shows. That's what your logic seems to suggest anyway. The argument is nonsensical, Jessie didn't win and therefore should not get to play the role otherwise the BBC will be asked to pay back the money from the phone vote.
CM can cast whoever he wants as the alternate, once the show begins. What was said in the article was that, he wants to cast Jessie for two shows a week, it didn't say when that would happen. |

If we are going to get picky then why don't I demand all my money back from the phone voting because I wanted Jessie and not Jodie?!
It's ridiculous, people can go and see Jodie when she is on and if Jessie gets two shows then her fans who also voted for her can go and see her too. To be quite honest, I get a feeling that some Jodie fans may feel a bit threatened that Jessie would over take the limelight and potentially be better and this is why they are adament not to have Jessie play Nancy. |

And let's just say, he might try and give her more help than Jodie. If Jessie is bad at acting and movement, then she would look a fool and everyone would go and see Jodie anyway. Wouldn't they.... But I think that Jessie would be better. So if she is playing Nancy as the alternate, then I will wait untill then to see oliver. |

I think that they are upset, you know becasue CM and ALW wanted Jessie in the first place. No prizes for guessing why.

Neither Jessie or Jodie were ever voted into the bottom two throughout the series and I think two distinct camps developed because of this situation. Jodie's supporters in the main want a safe and traditional Nancy and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that desire. Jessie's supporters, however, want the adrenaline rush of a raw and deeply emotional performance, which is not for everyone. The easiest way to demonstrate this is to listen (not watch) to both girls' rendition of ALAHNM preferably in a darkend room. Jodie's version is a polished, safe performance superb in its own right but it's been sung like that thousands of times by many different actresses. Whereas Jessie's version is an enigma, it reaches into the soul of Nancy, leaving the audience feeling drained with it's emotional depth. It's this quality that captivated ALW and CM and sets Jessie apart from the other 11 girls. New and exciting is not everybodys cup of tea therefore Jodie's Nancy (along with the other 10 Nancies) is perfect for the conventional among us but we rebels hunger for Jessie's Nancy. Therefore, as I pointed out 6 Jodie performances and 2 Jessie performances would suit the majority, satisfying both the conventional and rebel camps. |

As mickeymouse said earlier, I too believe that it would be a crime not to have her ALAHNM performed on stage. To use your metaphor JammiSammi we may well just starve in our hunger but lets hope that we don't, eh?!

What a post! Bits in bold sum up my thoughts on why Jessie could have been such a special Nancy, I wanted to leave that theatre having had my emotions torn apart by an utterly moving performance. Jodie is great but doesn't have that extra edge like Jessie does.

Jodie won - they should let her bask in the glory for at least 6 months. Letting Jessie have a couple of shows is an insult to Jodie. Anyone else would be fine - but comparissons of Jodie Vs Jessie would be all consuming.
Jessie is an amazing singer - so lets see her in something that actually involves a lot of singing! Singing is her 'world class talent' - use it. |

Well, you could say the same about Lewis and Aoife. But nobody seemed to have a big problem with them playing Joseph and Maria.
![]() However, the situation with Jessie would be different to the above, because she would be taking on two performances that Jodie is not contracted to do. From a marketing point of view, it would make sense to give the alternate 'job' to Jessie - she has a considerable fanbase (she was never in a sing-off). |

Actually, a lot of people did have a problem with Lewis playing Joseph - mainly because two understudies had already been cast (they played brothers as well as being understudies for Lee). Not only did Lewis cover the holidays, he also did the illness cover (so the understudies never went on - despite being employed and credited as understudies). The 'Powers That Be' realised there could be issues with this and offered to exchange tickets on 'illness days' - something which is not usual practice in the WE as far as I'm aware.

I'm with you and as for those still saying she can't act then how did she win the best actress award at the AIMS for her role in carousel in ireland??? Please let this happen and have her nights co-inside with Gwion as oliver then we get the dream combination |

I don't like the way people come onto the Jessie appreciation thread and bash her.
They could at least do it in the general casting news thread regarding the Nancy possibility. Why bother posting something negative in her fan thread? It just doesn't make sense to me. |
