I think the producers wanted to see if Jessie's popularity would survive a terrible song.

It's so tedious how they are playing this. I sat down ready to see Jessie sing an unsuitable song and get roasted for it. I wasn't disappointed.

I was baffled by JB and DVO's comments about Jessie. I thought she did a pretty good job with a pretty rubbishy song. I could hear every word and she stopped well short of shouting. Yet according to them she had poor diction and shouted. It seems to me that they are desperate to pull her up on absolutely anything they can.
Now I did struggle to hear what Samatha was singing most of the time and she really is a shouter, yet I am to to believe they heard every word she said. As for her movement down the stairs, well that wasn't a pretty sight. She seems to be bomb proof. It might have been one of Jessie's lesser performances but I still feel she was best in the show, and certainly none of the others had anything like their best nights either. |

I think Jessie did a great job considering the bad choice of song, bad choreography and bad wardrobe. She was amaaaazing in the Candyman song

I noticed in the group bits of Ashley's farewell song that Jessie was the only one whose voice really stands out.

I must admit when they introduced the Candyman song I was expecting to hear: Who can take a sunrise,Jessie's movement has often been perceived as one of her weaknesses but she seemed to hold her own in Nobody Does It Better. Jodie was the one who really struggled there. G. |

Apologies for harsh comments earlier; I think all the girls are talented and don't deserve such criticism. I also let a bad day here inform my response...
Theory - am I correct in thinking that Jessie's only training has been lessons with her mother? If correct, it seems her mother may have been a little soft, as Jessie seems to have problems in following critiques. However, I think in large part that could be due to her having to correct various things, learn songs, learn accent, learn to walk in heels etc. Really wish they'd give her lower shoes as I think her movement is improving; certainly she's better in group numbers than at the beginning. I also think she was done no favours with the choreography this week - all the crouching looked terrible! |

I thought Jessie did a good performance of an awful song.
When I've heard the original on the radio I've not been able to make out most of the words, so thought it was a bit harsh of them to criticise her for that - esp when I had similar difficulty hearing what Sam sang. Whilst not her best - and walking in those heels was not helping her at all - I think it was probably a better performance of that song than any of the others would have managed. I thought she was brilliant the previous week - hope she gets a decent song this Sat so we can see that level of performance again

I think that when it comes down to it people (the public) will need to ask themselves the following questions about all the girls:
1.Do they have a roughness/rawness? 2.Can they express real emotion in their performances? 3.Can they act/do the east end accent? 4.Have they got the stamina for eight shows a week? It should come down to which of the girls ticks the most boxes. I feel that all of the girls inject different emotions into their performances, some more so than others. We haven't seen enough of their acting to fairly judge this one though it seems Jessie has problems with her cockney. Stamina is an issue for the younger ones but as someone said the role could end up being split. They all have their strengths and weaknesses but the only one that has that unique rawness IMO is Jessie. Whilst the rest may well be able to do the accent more naturally, this I feel can be taught given time, whereas the roughness/rawness is something that cannot be taught - it's just there or it isn't. Obviously opinions will differ but this is just mine and Jessie is the only one I would pay to see. |

Im not a Jessie fan, but she does have a good voice, but needs lots of help. Her lack of grace on stage is fairly obvious and her heels did not help her. I dont know what the chorographer is doing with her but if they saw her in that dress walking down the stairs like she did. They should have done something about it.
Its affecting her big time, her confidence has taken a huge knock, hope she can pick herself up |

In the group performance this week I think it showed an improvement for Jessie in the movement stakes and for me she shows the rough edge, the spark, the guts, she was also picked out as one of the better fitness ones, the accent doesn't bother me It would be interesting to have an irish nancy in my opinion.
I have to agree with froglet unfortunatley I got what I was expecting as well. As for JB pulling out the Irish lilt well with trying to get that many words in that short a space in that song what did he expect? Give her some credit as well she was the only girl not to talk back this week as far as I remember she should have got bonus marks for that as well. |

Yes, it does seem to be "let's get Jessie" week, both on TV and on here.
BTW the number chosen for J, N and S was a bummer to perform, while the Shania Twain thing my grandma could do on karaoke. Dave |

From the boards of I.N.E.C. to the bright lights of the West End. Just found this article of support for Jessie back in her home town, nice to see that they are supporting her where they can as they can't vote
Killarney Musical Society are absolutely thrilled with the progress of their member, Jessie Buckley, this year’s leading lady in their production of Carousel. Jessie who this year played the role of Julie Jordon, in Carousel has now gone on to be one of the final twelve, from over 5,000 auditionees, for the part of Nancy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of Oliver. The successful “Nancy” will be selected from this twelve. Each Saturday night, they will perform live on BBC’s “I’d do anything” which will be followed by a telephone vote from all over Britain. Unfortunately, Jessie will be at slight disadvantage when it comes to the voting as the people of Ireland cannot cast their vote. We would appeal to all of you who have any connection in Great Britain, to contact them and ask them to cast their vote for Jessie. Jessie is a superb actress with a fantastic voice. She is bursting with enthusiasm and her love for singing and acting is evident when you see her perform. She is well capable of playing any role, despite her young age. She is a superb ambassador for Ireland. Killarney Musical Society are honoured to have had Jessie play the lead role this year. she was also a member of our children’s chorus in her early years and this year a beautiful young woman she really stepped into the limelight. She certainly stole the hearts of the people of Killarney recently as the leading lady with Killarney Musical Society’s production of Carousel. She also played a number of lead roles in her school productions. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and we know that she would make a brilliant Nancy, we are all very proud of her and wish her all the very best of luck over the coming weeks and hope that she will make it through to final night. |

Yeah, especially as she doesn't need to wear heels as she's the tallest Nancy!
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstor...9520-20412824/ According to this she`s the same height as Niamh, Sams the tallest. |

Listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2O3LTBnusc&feature=user I notice from that clip that the BBC even edit the bits put on 'youtube'. I agree with EllieG in that I've never been able to make out the words to that song - Jessie made it listenable which is more than the rest could have I think. Thanks to BH for clearing up the Irish accent issue too
