Did anyone see Jessie's performance at the Rose of Tralee Festival last night? I missed it unfortunately

Does anyone know if it's up on You Tube yet?

Nobody saw it - RTE didn't broadcast any of it!! All there was consisted of Roses and the Lotto draw - no Jessie
We hope somebody took a half decent camcorder and will put something up for all the frustrated fans. Apparently she did well though!

Wow. I just listened to Jessie, singing the Rose. Are you kidding, she was fifteen, when she sung that version? Really.

It was brilliant. One of my favourite versions, and it's been sung by loads of people.

^Well I can confirm that RTE recorded it, because their roving camera man kept standing in my damn way!

I decided to take a chance and head over to Tralee to see Jessie sing, hoping that I hadn't made a 900 mile round trip just to hear one song! I can report that Jessie was absolutely brilliant and did over half an hour and 10 songs. Unfortunately I don't have a decent camcorder, although other people were filming and they may post their results. I did however, manage to capture most of her set on just a normal camera in movie mode. It's a bit shakey at times as I had to hold the camera above the heads of the people beside me for over half an hour, and avoid the aforementioned cameraman who kept getting into and staying in shot.

It's 900mb MOV file at the moment. I'll look into posting it somewhere, although I could email it direct should anyone be interested.

However, It's 07.40 Thursday morning and I have just got in after leaving Killarney yesterday afternoon and driving though the night back home to Cambridgeshire. So I'm going to get some shut eye, so ye'll all have to wait awhile!

I sent you an email about the video because I'd definitely like to get it up on the blog

OK Jessie fans, time for a campaign, me thinks!!
If RTE did record Jessie’s performance, then they must have it somewhere in their archives, even if they didn’t broadcast it. Let’s e-mail them en-mass to ask if they can put the footage up on their Internet Real Player (or whatever it’s called), for the benefit of Jessie’s Irish and Non-Irish fans who couldn’t be there at Tralee.
Thanks to Derrers who gave us the info, and the list of songs that Jessie sang, which is up on the Jessie Buckley Fan Blog now.

How about something like this:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the broadcast of the Rose of Tralee competition, however, I was EXTREMELY disappointed that, though her performance was advertised, there was no footage of the extraordinarily talented Miss Jessie Buckley in your broadcast.
According to one UK Jessie fan that did make it to Tralee, you did record footage of Miss Buckley, but didn’t broadcast it.
I, and a lot of Jessie fans, would be VERY grateful if you could put the footage up on your Internet video player for all her admirers to see.
Very many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
…….

And here’s the e-mail address: info@rte.ie

Well, guys? What do you think?
Let’s have a go and see what happens. As my Mummy used to say, ‘If you don’t ask, you don’t get’!!!

Derrers you're a hero!! Let's hope your monster file can be converted into something more manageable. I dare say standing in your way was deliberate - they do that sort of thing!!

Hi guys,
I got a reply back from RTE about the Jessie footage. It's not good
Here it is:
Hi Jo,

The web publishing department here in RTE are only able to upload material that has actually been broadcasted on TV to the web site. Your best bet might be to contact the Rose of Tralee people directly: http://www.roseoftralee.ie/catalog/

All the best,

Paul McClean

So, that's where we need to send our e-mails to.
love
Jo

Hiya guys.

Opps - sorry. Still in Killarney mode!

Jessie's performance at Tralee was absolutely fantastic.

As we speak, I'm working on splitting the video up into the youtube friendly size required and getting it across to Katie to upload onto the blog. However, there have been a few gremlins causing subsequent downloads of the files to corrupt. Hopefully, these will be cleared up by tomorrow.

On a different note, I went to see Sam in Cabaret in Birmingham last night. She put in a great performance and the whole show was good. I can recommend seeing it if it comes on tour anywhere near you. However, when she sang Maybe This Time, I couldn't help getting a tear in the eye thinking of Jessie singing it in the final, and how much I'd really like to be seeing her on the stage at that moment. That's with no disrespect to Sam, who as I said, gave a great performance.

Anyway I'll press on with the video editing.

By the way, did I mention that Jessie was fantastic??

Just had a quick look at those videos - her version of Valerie is awesome (better than Amy Winehouse)

Why the hell did they not give Jessie that to sing on IDA. The show potrayed her as a one trick pony which she obviously is not!

To stray from Jessie for a moment, which I don't do very often, here's a good review for Sam for the preview of Cabaret:
http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/pkirwan/e...ham_repertory/
I thought it was vaguely relevant in view of past rumours!!

^Thanks Rog for the link. It's a fair review of the performance, and I would most strongly agree about the ending - I found the line "Where are your troubles now" as Emcee pushed over the A and turned and walked naked to join the others particularly disturbing. What the review didn't mention was that it was not just a concentration camp that the final scene represented, but a gas chamber, as you could hear a strong hissing and as the lights dimmed all the characters, now only visible in silhouette against a blue light could be seen to collapsing as the lights faded. As I say, very disturbing.

Disturbing, yes. It does underline the theme of the play, which is the menace of the rise and then triumph of Nazism.

So what's the latest on our girl?

I would hope she has something decent lined up at this stage.
