have just rewatched this vid - and realised she is crying - did she refer on any of her interviews about this (I can't seem to get them up)?- I am assuming she was really into character, however others thought she was nervous and that she gave an unemotional performance. She looks rather shell shocked at the end I must day - she usually ends all her performances with a stunning smile - this time she look emotionally torn. If it is because of being really in tune with the lyrics, then she is an even better actress than I thought. I was meant to have gone to this concert - had tickets and everything, but decided in the end I might easily miss my train as there were problems with my tube line that day and not be able to get to work in the morning so didn't go....wish I took the risk as I really wanted to see Rhydian in action as well - he seemed to deliver a bit of a stunner too!

To me it just looks as if she's completely involved in the performance - which is as it should be.

From watching it myself from very close to the stage, she was definately totally into the performance. She did cry but it's because she was so involved and into the character.

She really impressed me.

Just to let folks know, Jessie has recorded a small message for the Pound a Poem movie for schools (http://www.poundapoem.co.uk) , raising money for Rays of Sunshine charity which grant very sick & terminally ill children in the UK their wishes.
She's even wearing her trademark cardigan (yes folks THE cardi returns!!! )

Aaaah! It's nice to see the return of the cardi! I bet they've sold loads of them in h&m since Jessie began wearing hers!

We met Jessie and her Dad and they were really lovely people. Her performances were outstanding, and after "Memory" in Dublin she pulled yet another astonishing performance in the "Phantom" duet, where her final notes were absolutely breathtaking. She has shown huge progress far beyond even her fantastic work in the IDA Final. World class.

Hello everyone

Long time no post on DS!

I've decided to organise a good luck card for Jessie for her opening night as Anne in Sondheims A Little Night Music to show her all of our support.

The main article is on the blog http://jessiebuckleyfanblog.blogspot.com but if you would to send your message in the card the basic details are to email it to me at k_r_cook@hotmail.co.uk by 1st November!

People, sorry for randomly dropping into your thread, but I've got a question and figured you folks would know the answer.
I've been debating the slightly odd casting of this production of a Little Night Music with a friend recently, and what we were wondering is what is Jessie's vocal range exactly?

Can I ask why you think it's an odd casting HoppyToad?

Jessie has a really wide vocal range and in my opinion she doesn't have a weak area. Despite the fact that on I'd Do Anything Lloyd Webber mentioned how she was uncomfortable going up into her higher range and higher chest notes this really isn't the case. Her mum is a soprano and she's recently performed Memory and All I Ask Of You and has hit the high notes superbly. Spine tingling brilliant.

She seems a more natural alto but really and truly her range is outstanding and v.strong for someone so young.

Does the role of Anne have songs that are at one of the spectrum?

I just think the whole choice of casting seems slightly random. To me Hannah Waddingham is far too young to play Desiree. I think I was just expecting some bigger names. It doesn't help that they've announced the cast for the Benefit concert on Broadway next year, and the London cast is just a little disapointing in comparison.

I haven't heard much from Jessie outside of IDA which is why I was just curious. As the role of Nancy is an alto role, and then Anne in A Little Night Music needs a Soprano. Stageagent has the role down as needing a vocal range of Bb/A#3 - D6. Hence me just wondering what Jessie's range was.
I think it's certainly a good role for her, but I can't help thinking it's going to be a challenging one.

I think it is a great sounding role. If you listen to her "All I need is you" on her blog site, she rather amazed me at her ability to sing high notes, and she did it superbly. I am quite sure Trovor Nunn would not allow anyone who was not felt to be up to the mark. I also think it is great she is not doing the understudy role in Oliver that she was offered as I think she needs to separate herself from that if she is to have long term credibility. Trevor Nunn is not an easy man to please (and I don't think he is a fan of reality TV) and it is great he is her first opportunity cos if it was ALW or Cameron then people would say she got the job becuase she was her fav.

Thank you, you've put my mind at rest that Jessie is actually suitable for the role afterall and not all that random. I was pretty impressed with how she hit some of the notes in that link. Guess she just never got the chance to show off her full range on IDA.
Sorry if I came across as a little critical of Jessie in my other posts, it's just A Little Night Music is one of my fave musicals, and the casting just had me a little worried about this production.
I still say Hannah Waddingham is too young though.
