Will Tara get any work after IDA ?

Seeing as Tara seemed to be so hugely unpopular on here, I wonder if she has any future in MT-land or perhaps she doesn't care. She already seems to be well-known in Wales and has been on TV I think (?).

I'm just imagining that due to the flack she has taken on this forum that she couldn't be taken seriously for any other production in the West End unlike other losers from previous years.

What does anyone else see Tara doing in the future ?

See, I quite like Tara as a person (well, as much as we got to see of her), but her voice didn't cut it for me. And she never really got a chance to show off her acting. However, in her final 'As Long as He Needs Me' I thought she was quite impressive. She seems like she's a pretty determined person. I reckon she will get something out of the competition.

I'm sure she will get work, but I don't see her getting a prominent role in the West End.

Well, given that all of the top 12 Josephs got some kind of professional work off the back of it, I don't see why that wouldn't happen for Tara too. I didn't particularly rate her for this role, but that doesn't mean that she didn't have anything to recommend her as a performer.

Yeah, I can't see her morphing into Elaine Paige or anything, but she'll get something out of this exposure.

I agree with Lauriemarlowe

Altho it is interesting that, on the whole, the further the Josephs went on in the competetion the better the part they managed to get. I am sure she will get work off the back of this but not West End yet

The other thing we have to remember is generally a lot harder for women to get roles than it is for men, so that coupled with the fact there is no Bill Kenwright this year to give all the girls parts in his productions I doubt the Nancy's (particuarly the ones that go early) will have as easy a time as the Joseph's did.

Off topic here, sorry OP.

I'm sorry but I can't see the name Bill Kenwright without thinking Betty Turpin's son in Corrie Now that's showing my age!

How many of the Marias ended up with West End work? I can only think of siobbhan, and obviously Connie and Aoife as well.

Belinda ended up as a swing in Phantom. Abi and Helena have been in various productions, none in the west end though, Meliz has been concentrating on a pop career, Simona on TV acting and Laura has been training at Mountview. Not sure what Leanne has been up to.

According to wikipedia Leanne has been in panto and will be in Les Mis from June 08.

Well yes, only Lee, Ben and Daniel (and Lewis if you count his Joseph holiday cover) are on the West End - the majority of the others are in the Touring Joseph or other touring productions.

Half of the ADWD contestants are starring in a version of Joseph!!!

Tara wasntctully bad, she was just given crap songs. Could any of them pull of Without You? If Carly Smithson barel pulled it off, how would she have done it.

Actually I just watched Good Morning Baltimore again and Tara was pretty good in that, I could see her in something like Grease quite easily. Nancy wasn't her part but I'm sure there are others out there for her.

I just looked it up, she'll be playing the part of Cossette well done to her, I always thought that would be a good part for her. She'll be performing with Nancy too lol! Thats four Maria's in the west end then (well 5 if you include Belinda).

I'm really glad to hear that. I thought Leanne was very talented (at least vocally, perhaps not so much of an actress). I felt she was a bit under appreciated in Maria. Best of luck to her.

I expect she's probably improved as an actress, I believe she's spent most of the last year or so having lessons. I always felt she had more natural talent at acting than Siobhan anyway and looks how she's improved!

The exposure will help her get through auditions. Her voice wasn't the best on the show but she left the show giving her strongest performance. I'm not sure she'll get any high profile work as it seems that only those that stayed near the end got the plump West End jobs but she'll have work.

I agree she was shafted by her songs. I don't know if she had a hand in the choices, but Without You was an awful selection, and Let's Here It For The Boy was such a pointless song to convey any sort of acting except "hey, i kinda like this dude..." which is never something Nancy has to do. But, her final ALAHNM was pretty deacent, I see no reason why she shouldn't end up doing something.

I think she would have been better auditioning for the X factor than IDA. Her voice was very poppy and her look was more that field. As good as Samantha is I again think she chose the wrong audition.

I don't know if Tara would have gotten very far in the x factor. I'm inclined to think her voice just isn't good enough.

About Samantha, I'm beginning to suspect that she isn't actually very interested in the role of Nancy. There was a radio interview with her floating around here somewhere and she seemed to be implying that the audition was her singing teacher's idea. There's nothing really wrong with that, but I don't get a strong sense of her desire to play Nancy, of all musical theatre roles, like I do with say, Francesca.

I wonder if John Barrowman has come to the conclusion that she's in it for the fame, rather than the desire to play Nancy and this is why he's being so harsh on her. He accused Lewis of the same last year and he wasn't very charitable towards him. Just a thought.

However, just when I've written Sam off, she really impresses me in a Nancy group number. So I don't know.

Off topic, I know, but I think the reason why Sam always stands out in the group numbers is because she is a much better dancer than most of the other Nancys, and she looks the most comfortable and natural doing the kind of upbeat dance routines they put with the group songs. And I find that Niamh stands out too, although for the opposite reasons- she always looks very awkward.
