Having watched that show, I would have been just as happy if I'd only turned on for the last 2 performances.

The boys were brilliant tonight, and that's why a male will win American Idol this year

Spoiler
Kristy is out

Syesha and Brooke also in bottom 3

And you have to fear for the other bottom 2 when they do Lloyd Webber next week

Spoiler
Syesha not so much, she's done musical theatre before, Jason might be in a spot of bother though - although he apparently got the song that three of them wanted. I was going to lay money that Archie does 'No Matter What' - however I could also see David A and Brooke wanting to do it, so maybe he'll be okay with that one

So is it more geared towards the male vocals with choosing the themes each week, in order to knock a woman out each week? Or am I barking up the wrong tree.

Well I'm sure you are not too far away with that. After Carrie and Jordin won the last two years, he must want to see a more tougher male oppositin this year

Manipulating gits if true.

Carly seemed to do really well at the beginning, but I feel the themes did not match her voice. I truly believed Carly had the stronger vocals out of the women. Now, it's hard to see who has the the best voice judging by their performances so far.

Anyway, it's good entertainment. And something to look forward to after East Enders.

Once again it is David C who is taking the risks- good for him, otherwise it is just karaoke

So what will David Cook do for musical theatre?

Also, when I think of a luau, I think of musical performances on the beach ... which brings to mind all those 1960's Beach Blanket Bingo type movies with Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon, or performances by Jimmy Buffet, or the Beach Boys. Very mellow, melodic, and especially casual.

Not quite true, Taylor Hicks was in between Carrie and Jordin...tougher male competition though, you decide

The men had to do Dolly Parton week and Mariah week which is not easy for a male. Neil Diamond week may be harder for the girls I think but ALW week has some good songs that females can sing well i.e. Memories, Dont Cry for Me Argentina to name but two so I don't feel that one is geared up for the boys to do better.

Its going to be very interesting what songs they do pick next week and its got to be exciting for them all to perform in Las Vegas.

I think it is the case as from the start the males were stronger than the female this year.
The MC theme was just as hard for males, but they have been able to do good personal performances, whereas the girls don't have strongly defined styles.

Not that I noticed; for the first time ever whilst watching 'Idol I actually got a slight chill during a performance.
