To be fair Sparks have been doing this sort of music for ages, long before Mika even hit the scene.

For example this track from 1995:

They're playing it quite a lot on Radio 2. The lines "As I make you breakfast, I hope it's just your laughter that's infectious" do make me smile.

yes, sparks were one of the first bands to produce what we now call dance music(as opposed to the more old fashioned 'disco' which was prevalent at the time). and that was wayyy back in the seventies.

The 1979 clip is very ahead of its time.
