I still cannot for the life of me understand why SAS hired that wet blanket instead of Ruth....

Michelle was great at playing the "While struggling to survive at the age of 15, I had three jobs on the go." card.

I´d forgotten how great The Badger actually was... She was a real apprentice and would have been great for Sir Alan.

But sadly SAS was suddenly smitten with Michelle. You could actually SEE it happen... and on the Adrian Chiles show where he introduced the winner you could see Alan was almost infatuated...

If anyone lost the plot in that series it was Sir Sugar himself...

Yes she was. I think Nick always saw through her though but SAS never took any notice.

God yes. Michelle did her hard-done-by story and batted her eyelashes and Sir Alan was totally taken in.

Series 2 was probably the worst series for me. Not enough business in there IMO.

Wasn't he the one who shot himself in the foot over disparaging remarks about Big Issue sellers?

That rings a bell, can't remember exactly what he said, something to do with if he was selling the Big Issue

The Badger was magnificent, that woman could sell anything to anyone, such a shame she lost out to Dewberry, although I still stand by the firing of Miriam in Series 1 being the biggest injustice ever.

I liked Miriam too - I also grew quite fond of some of the motormouths we saw tonight. Every series should have a Paul Torrisi, Sayed, Tre or Saira, but God protect us from the Katie type apprentices.

Did anyone else notice how much weight James Max has gained.

Miriam was fab, but I think she lost out to Paul in the boardroom, because Paul was much much stronger defending himself than she was.

It was a harsh decision, but nowadays we all recognise that you have to be good in the boardroom to last, back then it was more of a shock because on paper Paul should have gone.

I really enjoyed that tonight. Nick Hewer really doesn't like Katie, does he?

I totally agree with the Paul, Sayed and Tre bit... but even the Katies have a place in it....

I hated ´Katie´ but loved the pantomime character she portrayed....

I ´hate´ Jenny Maguire and Claire Yound and Alex.... but I ´love´them and would not want to have a series without them...

Love to hate them would be accurate...

Most people don't like Katie....me included! I had to turn the TV over when she came on. Nasty piece of work, and Nick saw through her quicker than anyone.

James definatley looked like he'd had a pie or two

Paul didn't seem so bad in brief glimpses, but he wound me up badly during the actual series, Sayed was just a complete numpty, Tre was hilarious and had a fab sense of humour once you 'got' him - the art task still makes me laugh, those photos of fish

At the moment I can't see anyone except, perhaps Raef, standing out of this lot.

Miriam was my favourite as well but, unfortunately she was up against Paul in the BR*. However, unlike a lot of the sackings that have followed since (especially in this series) I wasn't "outraged" because she was fired. This was mainly because those who were left all had equally good qualities and bought something to the table.

*SAS has been quoted as saying it was a mistake to fire her. However, with hindsight I wonder if he hadn't fired her when he did whether it would have been more difficult to make Tim his Apprentice (as I sincerely believe SAS has made his mind up before the interview stage). When re-watching the final it was so obvious that Tim had won it before he had even got into the BR. If it had been Tim vs Miriam it would have been far more difficult to see the clear cut winner as both were very similar in personality and appeared to approach the tasks thinking of how the "team" could win, rather than how they good they were. I always say that Tim won the Apprentice for the time he stuck up for Sabastian (I think) against one of the stronger personalities who was trying to pass the buck!

Totally agree. In fact tonight's programme was practically telling us the type of people who wouldn't win (hopefully the Jennys, Claires and Alexs will be given the rope to hang themselves)

He'll go far - after all he gets on with prince or pauper.

Yeah, he became completely unstuck in the interviews. I liked him, he did well throughout the whole series, he had a cheesy sense of humour but he was quite a good all rounder. I thought he was miles better than Michelle and probably should have made the final. Sir Alan seemed to take an instant dislike to him though.

Trevor Nelson's comments about Katie were great

Definitely. Saira, Ruth, Kristina - all great and should have won but came second.

Didn't SAS offer Saira a job in sales?

TBH, I can understand why all three women came second (especially after watching tonight's programme).

Saira - Talking down to a Senior official at Spurs isn't going to bode well and where she lost it (imo).

Ruth - I can remember the guys absolutely tearing her CV to shreads and thinking she's lost it now.

Kristina - There was no way she was going to be the Apprentice after the incident with the sweets. Could SAS really have his company associated with that type of publicity once it had been aired?

Finally, after tonight's programme I can't see anyone with a strong sales background winning. There seems to be something in their personalities that makes great TV but, not SAS's idea of an Apprentice.
