Best meal you ever had?
Mine was Kleftika (Sp?), cooked for six hours in a Clay Oven, by a little old Greek Lady.
Literally melted in the mouth. In fact I'm salivating just thinking about it and it was 13 years ago. |

A litteral feast that we had when we went to Egypt for my cousins wedding. Her now husband is Egyptian and we went and stayed near all his family and twice on the 5 days we were they they put on this huge spread.
There was every type of meat (apart from pork obviously), poultry and fish you could imagine, oodles of various veg, rice etc and the nicest desserts I have tasted. It was all really good. |

I'd say Le Manoir in Oxfordshire, as close to perfect food as you're ever going to get, served in the most amazing surroundings.

K-Pauls Louisiana Kitchen. Paul Prudhommes new Orleans restaurant. I had Blackened Drumfish with mashed potato and veggies. Sounds innocuous but those mashed potatoes were to die for and the fish was exquisite!

So excited! |

i am mad on chinese food but have had so many amazing ones that i wouldn't know where to start.
the best "non chinese" meal i have ever had was in a restaurant in notting hill, i had mussels in a cream and wine sauce to start, corn fed chicken (melted in the mouth) creamy mashed potatoes and green beans in garlic butter for my main, and a chocolate tart with the most amazing vanilla icecream for pudding. washed down with lot's of cocktails. gorgeous. |

The best meal I ever had was a few years ago in a little back room in a pub in a Bedfordshire village.
We'd been told to go there and that the food was really good, but at first sight of the place I was quite dubious and it was like sitting in someone's sitting-room in a bright light - even less ambience The 'waitress' was a dour, plump woman from the village.I had a simple T bone steak with a selection of vegetables - each mouthful was almost orgasmic ![]() The dessert was quite simple, just a kind of flan thing with cherries and cream but mm......mmm. A close second would be a simple prawn sandwich (FRESH) in a pub on the north east coast - FANTASTIC! |

mmmm, that sounds delicious, love my prawns. did you have mayonnaise on the sandwich?
![]() I don't think I did - the prawns were enough, really tasty and fantastic. If you get good, fresh ingredients they don't need much embellishment - they're lovely in themselves. Getting hungry now, going to look for something to eat ![]()

A meal at Hakkasan at Christmas. Pricey but the best Chinese food I've ever eaten and one of the best wine lists I've ever seen. Already booked a table for the other halfs Birthday next month. The stir fried lobster and steamed crab was amazing.

It should be very perfect, nevermind "close to" with the prices they charge.

I once won a prize for dinner and an overnight at Le Manoir. Best meal! Worst hangover the next morning! To this day I fondly recall stumbling round the herb garden at 9am alternating between "Wow, I'm having an amazing time"and "Wow, I feel dreadful." But I do remember the ambiance in general and the vegetables in particular were a delight.

A restaurant in Port Douglas in far north Queensland called On the Inlet.
http://www.portdouglasseafood.com/ You dine over the water on a jetty, the views are amazing and the food is divine. The night we had dinner there for our 3rd wedding anniversary there was an electrical storm to add to the atmosphere. The lightening show was brilliant. If you ever find yourself in Port Douglas make sure you book a table.

A small restaurant in Alsace. The chef/owner was still young and keen. Used local produce etc, and didn't try for silly effects - he respected his ingredients.
5 superb couses for two of us £40 including the wine. Alan |

Two places for me, both Spanish, I can't decide between them
![]() Patagonias in La Linea, very small place but has a great atmosphere and the chef there works magic with the steaks he cooks ![]() And also Wok in La Linea, they have some amazing starters, Chicken Satay, Kappa Maki, and their little choux (s/p?) buns are gorgeous ![]() In fact, the food was so amazing there I'm moving to La Linea

It was in Portugal. I think it was called The Sizzling Stone ?
Basically you went in and ordered whatever meat with whatever side orders like chips, veg, salad etc ... A hugely hot stone was placed in front of you, along with the piece of meat you had selcted. You then basically cooked it yourself. For some reason, maybe because it cooked so quickly, it was blummin delicious. It was moist and tender, and the vegetables were perfect and fresh. Yummy. |

Had an amzing meal in Kefalonia!!!
Restaraunt was super modern, on the beach front and served kind of European fusion food? We went twice and I had the pork loin both times as it was divine. I don't actually think it was about the food though - the ambience and the restaraunt itself was just perfect. I've never since had a meal in such picturesque surroundings. However for food I'll have to go for my BF's steak, mash and buttered garlic green beans. He can't cook as a rule and this is his "only meal" but the effort he puts in (I'm talking about making sure the plates are wiped clean before serving - bless) and the attention he pays to getting the steak cooked just how we like it means it tastes divine. I've never had such effort and devotion on a plate
