Now that I have an idea of the equipment I will have in a few days time could somebody kindly tell me if my theory below actually works:-

1) Sky HD, PS3 and SF1100 all connected to Sony Bravia via HDMI

2) Sky Hd and PS3 connected to SF1100 via Optical Audio Cable

3) SF1100 connected to Sony Bravia via Optical Audio Cable

I am sure I will have something wrong so would appreciate any help!!!

Sony Bravia 46X3000U (3 x HDMI and 1 x Optical Audio)
Sony SF1100 Surround Sound System (2 x HDMI & 2 x Optical Audio)
Sky HD (1 x HDMI & 1 x Optical Audio)
PS3 (1 x HDMI & 1 x Optical Audio)

Thanks Niall

What you have said, will that mean that everything will work picture and audio wise? I don't need to have any other cables between the components and the TV for example? Your reply is all I need to do for everything to work in harmony?

Sorry for sounding so clueless but I am!

Well, thats how it *should* work. However, sky haven't enabled the sky hd box to pass 5.1 over the HDMI connection. So you need to connect the sky hd by optical to your SF1100 and by HDMI to the TV.

The PS3 supports DD5.1 over HDMI, so it can go into the HDMI input on the SF1100, and will work as you describe.
