A slight word in defence of Amanda, who I'm not a particular fan of, re her crying. I'd take it as genuine, being someone who'd sob at the end of Ground Force if people really, really liked their garden and could get extremely over emotional over the final elimination course on Gladiators when someone won, or lost, and stunned my OH, who hadn't been with me that long at the time, by watching the last 20 minutes of Gone with the Wind, having seen it 20 times before, but still managing to cry my eyes out. Some of us are just like that

I thought she was very good. I don't like the song but she sang it well with emotion. Some of you are really harsh critics (earlier in the thread) - I don't like sob stories either, but fair play to her- she pulled that song off.....

She didnt wow me, i thought it was just ok, there are much better singers in the philipines- charice pempenco for example. she obviously couldn't make it there so emigrated here. Her voice was good though just not spectacular.

Well Simon himself said she had picked up bad habits in her club singing or something. I think you are right in that the sob story swayed them, but also because for some reason I was expecting her to be bad and she was pretty good
I hate sob stories too BTW!

She was much worse than I expected. The build up to her audition with her sob story, and even the small previews from last week of Amanda crying about her, made me think she was going to be great. She was good, but that's it - good. Good enough to get through the first audition on the X Factor, but since BGT is a variety show, I would've thought the judges would have higher standards for singing acts, since there is already another talent show where singers can turn to.

I don't think she would've gone through without a sob story, and I don't think she'll make the live shows.

But it's all subjective so each to their own of course.

Charice pemenco, she was on paul o grady and ellen, look it up on youtube shes amazing 14 year old from the Philippines. the Phillipines does have some great singers for a smaller country.

I think she was at xfactor standard though. I mean shes better than most last year- kimberly, emily, nikki, beverly, and most of the boys for sure.

I only listened to the first song because my ears were bleeding. She has a phenomenal voice for a young girl but I didn't really like her delivery - too shouty and in the same vein as Whitney Houston who I've never bought an album by for the same reason, though I don't deny she's a phenomenal talent.
