Yeah, they're all finished here.

Will be glad to see Ireland and Hutton go, but I think Lambert's treatment of Bent is shabby. Given his chances, he can still hit the goals and I think freezing him out completely is a mistake. By all means put him up for sale, but I still think he could be a useful backup if we can't sell him.
What on earth has Bent and ireland done to piss the manager off? What's the story?

A lose to Luton 2-0 in pre season game but Lambert did change 10 players in the second half so its to be expected

Agreed, and a lot of the first-team players didn't come on until the 60th minute. Having at least 1 fit striker would have helped as well! I don't know if anybody watched the stream on AVTV but Vlaar was very poor, he looks like he's forgotten how to be a footballer over the summer!

N'Zogbia is easily one of Villa's best players though. Why would you want to get rid of him?
He really isn't. Ever since we bought him he hasn't delivered for the fee we paid for him. Gets beaten way too easily.

They haven't pissed off Lambert. It's just that they don't fit into his system.

I heard Clark was even worse. I don't know why we gave him a new contract. He's a shambles in defence.

Don't fit into his system? So why does he make them train on there own?

Honestly he wasn't mate, at least not IMO anyway. It's hard to get across just how bad Vlaar was yesterday, he did absolutely nothing right. He misplaced passes, sliced clearances, mistimed headers and was weak in the tackle.

Yes, he and Clark were both at fault for the goal but the difference was that it was Clark's only mistake of the game, whereas for Vlaar it was one of many.

I saw the highlights and Vlaar was gonna clear it yet Clark came dashing in and messed up his clearance.

I don't rate Vlaar much either but he's still better than Clark. I think Baker is better than both of them. We just have to hope Okore and Luna do well so we don't have to rely on the same shambolic defence from last season.

I'm not sure what to make of our pre season transfers,,,,ive never heard of them,,,,,,,i was hoping for one or two established premiership players to be bought.

I'm not sure if we are any better off than at the start of last season tbh. Benteke looks like he will score goals again, I know he has signed a new contract, but I think he will make noises about moving in January

I was pleased with how well we were playing towards the end of last season so if Lambert can get them to improve even more, we might be safe from relegation,(i'm not 100% sure we will though)

I wouldn't pay much attention to the pre season friendlies as Lambert as changed 10 men at half time in most of the games!

In terms of the players Lambert has gone for cheaper players from abroad to fill out our squad.Although they are decent players like Okore who played in the Champions League last season and turned down a move to Chelsea as he wanted first team football!

Its easy to say to buy from the premiership but we did that under Martin O'Neil and look how that turned out.We got stuck with a massive wage bill that we are still trying to clear players from that era!

Went to the friendly at Rodney Parade this afternoon. I hadn't heard of a single Villa player in the squad. A total rip-off and disappointment.

Accoding to SSN it was a Villa Under 21 team.

The Villa website has always been advertising today's game as a development friendly for the Under-21 squad.

I think Villa could be a bit of a surprise package this season. The young'uns now have some experience under their belts and there's already been a couple of exciting signings, especially Helenius. I really don't think they'll be fighting off relegation this time around.

Are the Villa friendlies on the radio ? As a UK based Malaga fan I wouldn't mind listening to comm this saturday as I won't be able to go so a stream would be fine.

I don't think they've been covered so far, and there's not much chance of them being covered on the local stations either now that the real football season has started. Your best bet might be to find a stream?

As an aside, what has everyone had printed on their shirt this year - if you've bought one!? I probably won't pay for it this year as I had a lot of problems with the shirts last season. I ended up having 3 and they all had the same fault. I'll see if the quality's better now that a new kit has been released but if they still have the same problems this season I won't buy another one while Macron are our manufacturer.

Although the Malaga game is on avtv it's on tvmalaguista.es (free) and they are taking the english commentary.

Well Bent has gone on loan to Fulham for the season.Pity we Didnt sell him though!

So not long now till the first game of the season.I don't fancy our chances against Arsenal so I would be very happy if we get a draw!

Good luck fellow Villa fans for the season

I will be happy to not have a season worrying about relegation this season, I would like to think we can make mid table (not very exciting I know, but it will be progression).

we don't want to start the season with a hammering, so i'm hoping we can get a draw out of Arsenal today

It should have been a red card but I'd still take the goal.
