Really poor and disappointing today,,,,,, we are so set up to play away from home, that we can't play at home.
There doesn't seem to be any variation in the way we play, we play one way, which is counter attacking, and if it doesn't work we get beaten. Its still early, and three tough opening fixtures,, but today are the games we need points from, and these are the type of games Lambert need to be judged on |

A clean sheet and a win. I think we all would have took that before the game.
Fantastic performance by Guzan and Clark. Not so much by Luna and especially Tonev. Nice to see Kozak scoring already. Let's hope Benteke gets better. |

Pleased with the 3 points,,,,,Guzman was excellent again,,,,Tonev was dreadful
we still look a bit disjointed in how we play,,,,I'm not sure whether this is Lamberts style of play or if he is playing this way because of the squad |

It wasn't shit. It was something worse.
I cannot describe that performance. Spurs weren't even trying after 2 goals up and yet still looked miles apart. This home form under Lambert is totally unacceptable. His spent a fair amount now. This is his team and they can't create anything! |

I hate our style of football tbh,,,,,its counter attacking, kick and rush football, with the hope Benteke holds the ball up and/or scores. We may as well not bother having a midfield because its not used properly.
Its still early, but our Home form is terrible, I feel sorry for all the season ticket holders that have to put up with it. I just hope we don't get drawn into a relegation battle again |

I don't quite believe what I'm seeing!
We're winning at home...we've come from behind twice against Manchester City...and Karim El Ahmadi has scored for us.

What a win it was yesterday for us and it shows those critics that we are not a one Man team!
As a lot of pundits had written us off after Benteke got injured! |

The game is a bit flat at the moment. It always worries me the amount of possession we concede.
Ive given up trying to predict out results though , this could go any way todayC'mon Villa ![]()

That's another Home defeat, This season is leaving me baffled.
They surprise us by getting unexpected wins, but disappoint us by sticking to counter attacking football, when a team like Spurs were there to be attacked in the first half. We have had a tough start to the season with the fixtures, and in a way i'm glad we have the points we have, but it just feels like a weird season for us Villa fans, I can't work out whether to be happy or annoyed. This season so far in smilies ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That was as negative as any match under McLeish. Dreadful.

Good win but it's paper over the cracks. Getting out possessed by Cardiff at home raises questions.
We're not looking far off from the performances we witnessed under McLeish. The boos at HT was justified and the win didn't do anything for me. Sorry to be negative but there's no bright future in our performances. Surviving on the cheap and grinding out results it looks to me. Still, Cardiff looked really toothless up front. They could be in trouble if they don't sort it out. |

I agree with you Hetal, I don't want to be negative about Villa, but that's how I feel at the moment.
Unless Lerner has a change of heart and invests in the club again, I can see us being in this position for years. The way I see it is , Lerner invested a lot of money hoping to get us into the Champions league, after finishing in the top 6 a couple of seasons he realised it would take many more millions to do it, he pulled the plug and stopped investing, its his money so its up to him, but the fallout from the MON era has been very painful for us Villa fans. Lambert seems a good guy but i'm not liking the way we play at the moment, I can't work out whether its Lamberts choice to play this system or if its because of the squad, although he has brought in a few of his own signings. I'm hoping its still a work in progress and lambert can get us into the top half, I don't want another worrying season like last season |
