Good win but it's paper over the cracks. Getting out possessed by Cardiff at home raises questions.

We're not looking far off from the performances we witnessed under McLeish. The boos at HT was justified and the win didn't do anything for me. Sorry to be negative but there's no bright future in our performances. Surviving on the cheap and grinding out results it looks to me.

Still, Cardiff looked really toothless up front. They could be in trouble if they don't sort it out.
You Villa fans , yeah Cardiff had a lot of the ball, but that was mainly in their own half, passing it backwards in reality, there are times to play sexy football and then there are times not to play sexy football.

Talk about a game of two halves! We didn't deserve it, but it's a point I'm happy to take.

We've gained the most points from winning positions in the entire league, that's a good trait to have.

I couldn't see us getting anything out of that game at half time but Lambert subs worked and we got a draw!

I would have taken a draw before the game started!

I know to be honest after last season I will just be happy if we are safe before the end of the season and possible finish midtable as that would be progress from last season!

Ive been a Villa supporter for 30 odd years, i watched us win the European cup on a tiny black and white portable tv, i have seen us relegated, promoted, win league cups and lose an FA cup final, i have spent thousands of pounds in the past on season tickets and going to away games.

If i wish to have a moan about the way i feel the club is being run or the way we are playing then i will.

This has been up there with the worst periods the club has been in since 1987 and under O'Leary, we have a Chairman with no ambition that has cut the purse strings and seems happy with finishing 17th every season, and a style of football i do not enjoy. I love this club and only want the best, but i have watched us take so many steps backwards that i really fear for our future

I'm completely gobsmacked at how that ended in a Villa win.

Great win for Villa but I wish we could win some more home games!

Although at least we are away against Fulham next!

A really good result but a poor performance. We're getting seriously lucky to walk away with 3 points despite being dominated but I'd still take it.

I liked gabby's composed finish for the first goal, i would much prefer seeing him in an England shirt than seeing Wellbeck, i think on his day Gabby offers more, imo

That was truly awful stuff. We won't get anywhere with playing like that. Yes, we may get away a few wins but we won't able to keep it up. Where's the bigger picture?

Results like this frustrate me,,,,this is why one style of football against every team in the league does not work.

Playing counter attack football against the likes of Arsenal and the top teams can get results. However playing it against the teams that are of similar standard to us is silly, we need to go out and beat these teams, otherwise we can find ourselves dragged back into the bottom half.

If you look at Home games there are 19, Ten of those should be winnable games thats 30 points, add the bonus wins we get against teams like Arsenal and winnable games away from home and we are comfortable and mid table.

At the moment our style of play means the games we should be winning and picking the majority of points from, is where we are dropping points. The games we are winning, are bonus wins we perhaps shouldn't have got points from. On paper these wins look great, but if we aren't picking up our bread and butter points then its papering over cracks.

I don't think we will get relegated, and there has been some improvement on last year, but Lambert really needs to work on another way of playing to get the wins we should be getting.

its just my opinion and i am not having a rant, but games like Fulham away are games we need to pick points up from.

The performance we've had under Lambert this season is pretty much MON lite. It's pretty much the same only worse because we have inferior players. MON got away with it because we was fighting for the Champions League under him.

I think people will start to lose patience with Lambert if this keeps up. We're already seeing some discontent from the home crowd. Fans won't accept midtable with this performance. They'll certainly accept it if we was playing good football though I would think.

It doesn't matter how much money Lambert has spent. There's no way we should be poor against teams who are fighting relegation battle this season.

I agree entirely with you.

At the moment Lambert is still in his honeymoon period with the fans, i also think we are patronised by the pundits to a certain extent, when they talk about us, its all about how Lambert has done really well with this young team etc...., they are not looking at the bigger picture.

If we had the same points this season playing exciting attacking football it wouldn't seem so bad.

Home fans will not put up with defensive counter attack football for long, as it is showing to be not very productive and boring.

I am still interested to know whether Lambert is trying to emulate MON with these tactics, whether he see's them as a means to and end at the moment, before playing better football in the future, or, if this is his own football and we are stuck with it.

I wish we could have played Fulham when Jol was still in charge

I'm not surprised we're being thrashed, we're always shit against Man United. But allowing Welbeck (twice) and Cleverley to score? That shows just how bad we actually are.

*sigh*

I'm not surprised we lost this to be honest

We had a good first 10 minutes and then crumbled when they scored (wellbeck of all people).

We are a very basic team and we are very easy to read, at times we can't even do the basic stuff right, the amount of times we give the ball away is terrible.

Lambert and Moyes should have shook hands before, and agreed on Man utd winning and not bothered with the match

I think we'll get dragged into relegation again. There's no way we can keep up being midtable with the way we're playing. Our performance is the worst in the league by far. That's unacceptable when Paul has spent over 40m and he's now in his second season! Not impressed with him at all.

Another thing. Something that's really disappointing. Benteke. One season wonder after all. If only Spurs paid up our valuation fee.... It could have been good for both parties.

The performance he's putting in now is a disgrace. It looks like he doesn't even wanna be here. Need to cash in and rebuild. We certainly need to fill in some gaps. And with good senior quality. None of this 'young and hungry' bullcrap.

I agree,,,he certainly has the look about him, that he thinks he is better than playing for Villa, its almost like he is sulking now.

Sell him in January get £20 mill for him, and buy some quality in midfield, none of this relying on youth approach.
