The worst thing for me isn't that we lost to League One opposition. The worst thing is I'm not surprised we lost.

Where do we go from here? The results are inconsistant, the football is poor and there seems to be no actual plan. And I wouldn't be gutted if I never saw Benteke in a Villa shirt again...I said in the summer he'd need to prove himself and win me over again and he hasn't.

I expect Lambert will be here to the end of the season at least, so I hope his January signings actually make a difference both to the style of football and home form..

This win is great news for me as a Notts County fan, as it means that Sheff Utd will almost certainly be distracted by their cup win when we play them next week

Sadly he is struggling to achieve even that.

What angers me, is that everyone of value is sold, the football is awful to watch, the results at home are terrible, yet we never see a reduction in season ticket prices to go with the fact everything is being done on the cheap

I can't see any quality signings coming in January. I just don't see Lerner wanting to give any money.

There are rumours Lerner wants to sell, i think he realises that owning a premiership football club is not the cash cow he thought it was.

The thing is this was near our best side. Apart from Gabby he chose all the 'best' players available.

Even though Lambert's words were out of context he clearly wanted to prove the media wrong by fielding out a 'strong' team. Only he made it 100x worse because we still lost and this greatly exposes him as well as the players.

Confidence has gone again, negative chants etc. Just bad management all round.

I think the best option is to stick with Lambert until the end of the season. If things don't pick up then just get rid. I'm sure many fans are already tired of him.

Most of my mates have predicted a County win next week. It's just the way United are this season

We should probably be discussing this on the League One Thread, but confidence is high for us after we smashed Bradford on New Years Day

Also we don't have the cup as a distraction

I know how you feel. Our confidence was high when we beat Bradford over 2 legs...

Oh wait we couldn't do that either.

Can any Villa fan work out how we defeated Arsenal and Man City this season again? Football eh...

Lerner is going to look at that league table, you're 11th, this time last season you were 19th if Lambert has to piss off Villa fans for the good of the club, then he'll do it, he isn't going anywhere. The FA Cup in the long term is a huge distraction as Man City are finding out now, so I agree with your manager.

Sorry to further hijack this thread but as a Blade, today can only be a good thing for us. We know we aren't going to win the cup but the confidence we will have picked up from today will be immense. The whole club will be on a high and I don't see the cup being a distraction. I'd rather play you guys off the back of a 2-1 win at Villa then a 2-1 loss at Walsall put it that way!

Should be a good game. Both teams hitting a bit of form after dismal starts. We have lost one in ten and Derry has been a shot in the arm for you guys. Hope we both stay up. Really enjoy going to Meadow Lane.

Anyway, I'll pass this back over to the Villa fans. Massive credit to your fans for being so gracious in defeat. How's Matty Lowton getting on? Seems to have gone back a bit this season

Completely agree with all this. I was very sceptical of the appointment of Derry at first but he has improved performances by 110% since he took charge. Meadow Lane is a great ground, sometimes the home fans can be quite quiet and attendances aren't great considering the size of the ground but all in all it is a nice ground with plenty of pubs nearby as well

I'm really worried about our next premiership game against Arsenal as I think it could be as bad as the Chelsea game from last season the way we are playing at home at the moment!

It will be a walk in the park for Arsenal, can see them scoring at least 3 against our defence even if Vlaar is back. Why did Sky Sports pick it, Crazy!!!

As I said previously, we need reinforcements in the window. It seems we are going in for Wes Hoolahan as we "apparently" put in a £1.5m in on Friday, he was left out of Norwichs game on Saturday. For that price wouldnt be a bad signing and may give us a bit of creativity in the middle. Might need a striker now Libor is out for the season with a Broken leg aswell.

Lescott on loan maybe a good move, him and Vlaar at the back could be a strong pairing and plus gives at least one decent CB if Vlaar's injury problems continue.

Can only see 3 or 4 nil to Arsenal tonight, we couldnt even beat Sheff Utd with alot of first teamers playing. Also 3 goals in last 6 home games is awful.

At least Vlaar is playing. Hopefully that will help our GD.

I'm just glad Weimann has been dropped. Doesn't deserve to even be on the bench with the way he has been playing this season.

What on earth happened to Baker? I missed it.

No CB on the bench. Genius there Paul.

The worst team I've seen in my lifetime. This team isn't Premier League quality. The quality of the league has gone down seeing as we are somehow 11th. Can't see that lasting though.
