LFC fan in peace. Well played today - it was a harsh pen but having been on the wrong end of those as well it's sadly a question of taking them when they come along until the footballing authorities have the guts to do something about it for the benefit of ALL teams.
My main point is why on earth don't Villa look that positive and assured in many other games? We're not THAT bad are we? I guess Benteke's emergence out of his slumber following that goal against Arsenal helped.Again, well played - it was a scary game to watch at times. |

Very good defender and without our captain the whole team just drops down a level. Now that we've got him back we look good again. Now that Benteke is back on form (I hope) the whole team raises another level. We've got some needed experience and an actual good LB on loan to cover one of our biggest weaknesses. |

Crazy game.
Why is it when we are winning near the end we treat the ball like a grenade? It would be nice for once we kept the ball well under pressure. It's so annoying watching us at times. |

I'd forgotten what it feels like to win a derby, tonight was the first time we have since December 2010!

One of the best games Ive seen at Villa for a while, only the Carling Cup Semi against Blackburn would top it.
The defending from both sides was comical first half but the goals scored were very good. Brunt's goal for them was great but Delphs finish was awesome for a guy that hardly scores. Vlaar was a rock in the last 20 mins and Bertrand is quality, way better than Luna. Hopefully we can get something at Everton but for now what a match and what a win against the tesco boys. |

Only two loan signings by the looks of it then. If Kozak didn't get injured then it would have been only one. Brilliant ambition from the club once again.

Good win against West Brom, 2-0 down in 10 minutes, a couple of months ago we would have been beaten, i hope we are starting to see some fight again, like the end of last season, if we do we might move comfortably away from a relegation battle.
Disappointed nothing was done on deadline day. Not even a sniff of anything happening, that worries me a bit. |

Lambert reverted back to McLeish type tactics and got what we deserved.

If you look at the stats alone then I'd agree, but Everton's 2 goals were a world-class free-kick and bad defending from us. If our defence had done their jobs properly we'd have come away with a deserved point after a gruelling game on Wednesday. The tactics today weren't really any different to those that got us wins against Arsenal, Southampton, Man City, Norwich and even Sunderland. It suits the abilities of our players and more often than not is capable of getting us decent results away from home. You win some, you lose some, let's just move on to West Ham.

F**king atrocious.
The board can hold off giving Lambert a new contract until he actually gets some decent results at Villa Park. |

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Disgraceful result. One step forward, Two Backwards under Lambert, heres a manager that consistently cannot get a result at HOME against teams we need to beat. We seem to do ok against teams where there is no expectation, but our bread and butter games, the ones that matter, under Lambert it has not been good enough at all. We paper over the cracks with results like the away win at Arsenal and the away draw to Liverpool, we have a scrappy win against WBA and we have a bit of hope, we see a bit of fight from the players, but consistently under Lambert we then have the rug pulled from under us and we get sucked back into the relegation scrap. Poor results at Home and a dreadful style of Football, he has had his chance as manager of Villa and we are no further forward than what we were under McCleish. Time for Lambert to go imo. |

Well I'm happy with that point as after that first half display which was terrible. Its a better result for us than Cardiff!
We could have taken all three points if it wasn't for that amazing save at the end from Marshall! |

I'm not looking forward to the game against Newcastle tomorrow as I can't see us getting any result up there!

Worst Villa team assembled in my lifetime. I have better stuff to do than waste my time watching these jokers in our Claret & Blue.

I wasnt expecting anything from this game, however losing right at the end was disappointing. Awful match, if it wasnt for the fact i am a Villa fan i would have turned it off.
We have a decent spine to the team in Guzan, Vlaar, Delph and Gabby, but if the others never put on a Villa shirt again it wouldn't bother me tbh. We seem to have headless chicken disease at times, at the back there is a lot of panic and when we rush forward its done that quick that nothing comes from it. The way we played against Liverpool in the first half was excellent, what has happened to playing that way??, if we played like that then we would be top half by now. |

It must hurt to lose right at the end like that but in spite of our 40 points I tend to think you have a team that's in better shape!

Watched the first half before going to work on Sunday and I thought we were the far better team. Two or three decent chances that we should have put away and they made us pay.
Given their form, I thought that match was winnable, so its a massive disapointment. I really think we are in a dogfight for relegation, 2 home wins all year and only 1 win anywhere since New Years Day. Still lets open up contract talks with Paul Lambert, absolute crazy!!! ![]() We need 4 wins to stay up, just where will we get them given our dire home form. The key fixtures will be Crystal Palace and Swansea away. We can lose to anyone at home and theres no chance we are winning 4 at home, so the away fixtures at them two clubs mentioned are vitally important. |

I guess Benteke's emergence out of his slumber following that goal against Arsenal helped.
Can't call how this one's going to go.
