2 wins from the last 18 league games.

I just can't get my head around that.
Only 7 goals scored in those last 18 games

Only 2 goals scored in the 2nd half of 22 league games

Now averaging less than a goal a game in the league since Lambert became manager

Apart from a 10-15 minute spell in the second half, and a promising half hour from Carles Gil, it was very disappointing against a rather average Liverpool.

Evidently we are now the 3rd lowest scorers at this stage in top flight history! For the first time I now have us as one of the three favourites to go down. Things have to change but with Lerner hiding in his ivory tower and Lambert living in fantasy land then I cannot be confident.
Villa have had a good record against Liverpool recently too.

With Delph signing a new contract and Villa progressing to the last 16 of the FA Cup it has been one of those once in a blue moon days.

Congratulations to Villa. Hammered Bournemouth reserves 2-1.

1 fantastic individual goal and 1 great team goal were definitely worth being there to see. Overall a reasonable performance in a fairly even game. The defence was pretty solid again although I would still like to see a pacy winger. Good to see Delph sign as it would have been bad news to lose him for nothing in the summer.

Lambert is a genius

11 goals and 22 points. Just give me an example of a team with a better points per goal ratio. And it's points that matter.

And now flown into the FA Cup last 16.

Well let's hope we can go into the Arsenal game on Sunday with a positive attitude but Im not expecting much although we do tend to raise our game against the top teams!

So reports on Sky Sports News are saying that Scott Sinclair has had a medical and is now talking personal terms ahead of a loan move to Villa!

Apparently he has only played around 190 games in his whole career , he's got a lot to prove and hopefully he will do it with us

Another woeful display, Benteke has gone from world class to a League 2 player, Sanchez clearly was seeing things, he kept passing to an imaginary player.

The sooner Lambert goes the better, i believe the squad is decent enough for a 10th - 13th finish, so i dont think there are any excuses for the awful performances, the manager has to take the responsibility and its time for a change.

Will Lerner pay the required compo to sack his newly signed contract?

Can't see Lambert walking away either. Would Lerner even care if you went down?

I think the answer is probably not to both questions. Lerner realised under O'Neill that it was costing millions to keep us in 6th place and it would cost many millions more to try and get in the top four, so he pulled the plug, and lost interest.

Not sure how Lerner can think he can sell a Championship club when he seems to be struggling to sell a Premiership club, poor decisions from Lerner for givin Lambert a new contract, awful management from Lambert, there is only one place we are heading sadly.

I can't see Lerner sacking Lambert but after next weekend lose to Chelsea we could be in the bottom three and I can't see us getting out of it without being able to score!

I doubt Villa will be in the bottom 3 because Hull will lose at Man City, and QPR will probably draw or lose against Southampton.

Villa probably only need 3 wins and 5 draws to stay up. Luckily for them, there are lots of poor teams in this league. Hull have got Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd to play in their last 4 matches, and QPR have got 0 pts away from home this season.

I'm starting to seriously believe that Randolph Lerner is a secret CIA operative. After the controversy with water boarding, rendition, Guantanamo etc the Yanks are looking for new methods of torture. I fully expect the Upper Doug Ellis to soon be split into home fans/away fans/suspected Jihadis

Yet another record for Lambert & Lerner today, which will probably be extended next week. Over the last 19 league games (ie half a season) we have 2 wins, 12 points and have scored 7 goals. Lambert looked a broken man in his post match interview. Something has to change quickly or we will be going down, which will be unforgivable given the other dross in the bottom 8.

I think the result of next weeks game at Chelsea will decide Lamberts fate

Things do get a bit easier in Feb/March after the Chelsea game

Assuming 34 points would be the minimum points to keep Villa safe,we could get those points from

Chelsea (h) 1 point
Hull (a) 1 point
Leicester (h) 3 points
Stoke (h) 1 point
Newcastle (a) 1 point
WBA (h) 3 points
Sunderland (a) 1 point
Swansea (h) 1 point

With April / May games available to give mid table security ?

Those are a very optimistic set of predictions. You're predicting Villa won't lose any games in their next 8 matches when they haven't even scored a league goal since 20th December. Very unreal. The match against Leicester is an FA Cup match, not a league match.

How will it? Chelsea are currently the best team in the league so it won't come to a shock if we lose against them,

It's the Hull game that should seal Lambert's fate. But even then I doubt it.

And come on... You actually think we'll go on an unbeaten run of 8 games? We cannot score for crap.

We will score and probably even win 1 of the next 8 games but an 8 match unbeaten run now would go down as one of the biggest sporting shocks in decades imo. Don't forget our "easy run of games" over Xmas/New Year ended with dire 0-0 home draws with Palace and Sunderland and a dire 1-0 loss at Leicester. 7 goals scored in the last 19 league games is not the basis of confidence for going on an unbeaten run imo. With our squad we should not go down but the lack of leadership and character in the players/management/board are a big worry imo and I would have relegation now as a 50/50 possibility. We are lucky that there are so many other dire teams.

I'm still hoping that we sign a striker today but I think it's very unlikely however you have to dream!

We really should have sacked him at the end of last season. To think we gave him a new contract is worse than the signing of McLeish. Absoutely shocking from the club.
