I don't think Sherwood has either the experience or the personality to get us out of the mess LamBERK left us in.

My number one choice would be McClaren , but i doubt he would look at us after the last time we snubbed him, Eddie Howe although no experience would be a good shout imo, plays attacking football and it would give everyone a lift. Hoddle would be an interesting choice i doubt he would be worse than LamBERK.

Fox is in charge of finding the next manager so there's still hope due to his connections.

Howe won't take the job if offered it at this point in time in my opinion. I think he'll want to see how far he can take Bournemouth first.

Many names being mentioned. I believe we need someone who has experience and is respected and not someone like Neil Lennon who is basically Alex McLeish and Paul Lambert poured into one body.

As I said in the 'Paul Lambert' thread, not surprised Lambert got the sack but what does surprise me is that he did so badly at Villa when you consider how well he did at Norwich. Villa fans said his style of play was too negative. I agree, he did, yet I don't remember his Norwich side playing with the same negativity. They didn't seem to have any trouble scoring goals not only in the Championship but even in the Premier League, in contrast to his Villa side. Did he change his tactics when he switched to Villa?

It does seem to be that we are in talks with Sherwood but I don't think he is the manager we need to keep us up!

Looks as if Lerner is just going for the cheapest option if anything.

No if he was going for the cheapest option then he would go for someone like Hoddle which I wish he would do as he would be a better option than Sherwood to keep us up!

I'd read that Sherwood and QPR couldn't agree terms because QPR couldn't or wouldn't match Sherwood's needs, financially. If that was really the case, It'll be interesting to see if Villa can or will.

I'm not sure if Sherwood would be good or bad on the negative side he lacks experience and he may still not have the correct coaching badges. On the plus side he is a disciplinarian who speaks his mind. He is also good at bringing through young players and he looks like Jeremy Kyle.

The last one might be a negative.

Just watching West Brom against West Ham and it amazes me how over the years Villa have let go players like Craig Gardner who could easily walk into our first team.Also other players like Cahill and Steven Davies who we let go for cheap but are now worth a lot more.It makes you wonder about the policy in the background at Villa!

At least it'll be entertaining - I suspect Villa's goals stats will increase markedly - possibly at both ends. It will be interesting. The days of getting a big name manager are gone for Villa given the state the club is in and the owner. Sherwood will at least chase points which could suit Villa's players better.

Hmmm its a difficult one with Sherwood, he hasnt got the experience so that could count against him, also offering him a contract is difficult, i would have offered him a deal until the end of the season, but then you could argue that as its not a long contract its not showing him much faith, as it is he has got a deal until 2018, i just hope he isnt on a huge salary.

On one hand i'm excited for the change and who knows he might be able to give us a lift, but on the other hand because its Sherwood i'm worried tbh , oh well its done now, UTV SOTC

Not my personal choice (although 2 years ago Lambert was, so...) but I'm more than prepared to support him. We've spent the last few weeks calling for Lambert to go, so now he has we can't really complain about his replacement.

Seriously though I think 39 points will suffice because of the number of teams averaging less than a point per game. That means a target of 17 points from 13 games. To put into perspective = 5 wins and 2 draws or 4 wins and 5 draws or 3 wins and 8 draws.

I doubt he would have signed if it wasn't a huge salary.
