Gil and Ayew starting, Gabby dropped completely, Richardson and Lescott benched. Already, Remi Garde looks clued up!
![]() I'd be lying if I said I expected anything against Man City even though we desperately need a win, but I'd settle with the team looking like they can show some fight and play well. |

We look a completely different team, i'm not saying we are going to beat City, but in the first 45 minutes you can see us playing as a team, we have a shape, there is a bit of discipline, everyone is sticking to their roles
Sherwood must have been having them playing in a sand pit and on the swings in training , instead of training for football |

Good result and we played really well, first time ive been happy all season , not necessarily the result, just the fact we played like a team and you could see the difference already from Sherwoods team

A solid performance and a clean sheet against one of the most in-form teams...that'll do! Still a long way to go, but I'm a lot more confident that Garde can turn us around.
Have never heard such hatred for one player as I did for Snakian Snake though. Wonderful! |

A decent performance and good result for Villa against Man City. Its something for Garde to build on and he can work with some of the players over the international break
I just wonder if we have seen the end of Gabby Villa career or will Garde give him another chance? |

Played like a team and played for each other
Onwards and upwards, the positives, took a point and kept the clean sheet against the team who were Top of the tree |

I'm not panicking about this result as i would under Sherwood tbh,,, yes we've lost 4-0, but Everton have been superb, probably the best performance against us this season, our defence is still poor, but we didnt run around clueless like Sherwoods team, Everton were just superb and that is how we have to look at it

Grealish dropped from first team squad indefinitely. Good decision i think.
There needs to be some attempt t keep these young players who have had half a dozen good first team games grounded. Good to try and punish that way to instill some discipline |

Thats that then, we are down, that performance showed the players know it as well, yes there was some effort shown, but the quality is not there and neither is the belief from the players.
Whoever it was who brought it all the new players needs to be sacked, Sherwood has gone but apparently we have a group of people who sort out the transfers, these people need to be got rid of, the people behind the scenes have ruined this club. Aside from allowing a bit of spending in his first couple of seasons as owner, Randy Lerner has been a nightmare for us, the sooner he goes the better, from the top down the club is toxic. I can see us beating Derby's lowest premier league points total as well |

As a Newcastle fan all I can say is the two worst run clubs in the league are sitting bottom of the PL. On paper probably not the worst team of players but as a whole both clubs are sinking and have been for the past 3 or 4 years. Would be surprised if one or both don't eventually go this season.
Not good times |

After today all hope of being in the Premier league next year is gone, like Grealish I'm off out on the vodka.
I don't have any hippie crack but I know an old hippie woman and she has a ... well I suppose it depends on how much vodka I drink. |

Not good times We sacked Sherwood and its still the same, even with a new manager. I think even if Newcastle sacked McClaren it would still be the same tbh, because the owners are making both clubs toxic imo |

The whole summer window was a huge flop. It's like we sold Benteke and Delph then just burnt all the money. The players are just not mentally equipped for the Premier League and haven't got the stamina for it. Some are just downright crap.

Again shocking defending for all 3 goals. A team that scores so few and concedes so many is only destined for one thing. We are not down yet but it will take a miracle to keep us up. This team is lacking in every area and, taking off the claret and blue tinted glasses, we deserve to finally go down this season.

The most worrying aspect for you guys is that we were pretty poor (from what I saw and our fans at the game say) but still managed to get 3 goals when we are hardly prolific.
Seems like it had a Championship game feel to it with both sides attacking and look pretty average but getting goals? |

Going by last years table (Only as a guide) 38 points kept you safe.
As it stands you have 5 points with 24 games left which means you need 33 points from the next 24 games so an average of 1.375 points per game if my maths are correct. Can you see that happening? Currently you are on 0.35 points per game. It is such a big ask to be honest. It will be so so weird to see Villa not in the premiership and I do fear if they go down they may struggle to get back up. |
