A much better performance today. Defended excellently and Friedel barely had a save to make all game. Going forward we were alot sharper too and created alot of chances where on another day it could have been 4 or 5. Lucky lucky Villa

. As a gooner i feel our crapness against "smaller" teams and your consistency throughout the season so far means you are deserving of your place in the table, as are we deserving of ours sadly.

Fantastic performance today. We destroyed them - Barry was back to his best in midfield, Gabby looked lively, Heskey did well, Ash was creating. I can't say a bad word about any of our guys really. When it was 1-0 going towards the end I was worried we might let it all go to waste - not to be. Great anticipation by Gabby for the second goal.
Bonus with Chelsea not winning. A draw against them at VP in two weeks will be a good result but they definitely look beatable at the moment. I'm not bothered who wins out of Spurs and Arsenal as usually I prefer Arsenal to win the North London derbies when there's no consequences involved for Villa. Right now I just hope it's an entertaining game between them, but I imagine if Spurs take the lead I'll be willing them to hold on. Nice break with the Cup next week and then the UEFA Cup on the Wednesday after. |

Whats the best odds on Villa winning the EPL , or can you get a decent price for the runner up spot ( more realistic )

I got 100/1 on us winning the league before Xmas...
Definitely worth a bet for us finishing runner-up. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have all looked average over the last few weeks. |

I first read that you took the bet that Villa would have won the EPL buy Christmas

Quite a few of the betting sites do odds for winning the league without Man Utd and Chelsea. That would basically give you the odds for finishing second (or first) as Chelsea look unlikely to finish in the top two.

Everton fully deserved the win.
An absolute mediocre performance by Villa. Most of our chances were wasted by hitting the ball towards the crowd more than the net and what sloppy defending with the last goal. None of our players shined tonight, total letdown. We can't play like this again for the next two important games or we could be throwing away on what seemed to be a hopeful season for us. |

We didn't play great today but i'm not going to get carried away and criticise the team too much. The defending wasn't as good as it has been of late and the chances we got were wasted. The worst thing that could have happened was a replay with our fixture scheduling coming up and the FA cup was always the least of our priorities IMO, so i'm not too downhearted that we're out with a tough UEFA cup tie coming up and Chelsea next weekend.

Hard lines today Villa and good luck to you for the rest of the season, really hope you can upset the applecart at the top of the league.
I will be watching the remainder of your games with a lot of interest. |

I'm not too disappointed. The FA cup has lost the magic that it once had, Villa have bigger fish to fry.

Behave!!!
If the team that won the FA cup took a Champions League place, the place that now goes to the team that finishes 4th in the Premiership then it would be a competition worth winning. When the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup went a lot of the magic and purpose of the FA Cup went as well. |

It's true, the carrot for winning the FA Cup is the same as the one for winning the League Cup and very few care about that.

Im quite happy about being in the next round. I wanted us to win today.
This year at least for me qualification for the champions league overrides winning the FA Cup. Once Villa establishes themselves in that competition then Villa like United can think of the quadruple

Villa were not at the races today .
We badly missed GB in the midfield today , a reminder that if we don't have CL football on offer next season he is away to somewhere like Luckypool But I doubt if GB could have got them firing today in reality , with a few important games coming up maybe its best we get the bad days out of the way now . I think our target whilst in 3 comps as recently ( in this order ) 1) Top 4 to qualify for CL 2) UEFA cup ( at least we get into Europe) 3) FA Cup Good luck Everton for the FA cup and the 5th place in the EPL to |

I wouldn't have been unhappy at Villa going through but there are far more pressing issues for Villa.

Villa should never be happy about being knocked out of the FA cup. simple as that. When United were beating Arsenal in the cup replay in 99 no-one was saying they should be concentrating on the league.
The FA Cup is a nice trophy to win and has a long tradition, Villa playing a big part in that tradition but I feel the FA Cup needs a bit of a shake up. It is a bit lost without the Cup Winners' Cup that use to follow it and the prospect of playing in the Community Shield in August isn't one that would occupy the mind during the summer. |
