Two wins in a row!

In 9 days, Steve Bruce has got as many wins as we got in the previous 9 months. His impact has been instant.

Same old Villa, always winning! Dire game for the neutral, settled by mistake from keeper, good work from Adomah and class finish by Kodjia. Still a long way to go but things are starting to look up.

Finally, after such a long time, our players look like they're playing FOR the manager and for the shirt. For some reason that never happened under RDM.

Bruce will get us promotion if he stays around, but it might be next season because of how far behind we are already. Even if we got to the play-offs, I reckon we would ultimately crumble.

I'd settle for a point later today. We don't have a great record against Blues over the last 15 years or so. A win would be awesome for team spirits though.

Just hope it doesn't get too unpleasant between the fans at the ground.

i think for the first time i put us as underdogs for todays game, relegation , terrible start, Blues have had a decent start and we are away , so i would take a draw.

its going to be interesting to see if Bruce really has given the players something extra, if he has, you never know we could hopefully get a win

Apart from Gardner, I doubt if any of our players really understand what this derby means to Aston Villa and the fans.

Would the same be true of Birmingham, I wonder? Do they have more local/English players than us? If so, that in itself may be an advantage...

Any criticisms of Gary Gardner I've had in the past, I take them all back.

Phew , i will take that point

We did ok in the first half , but we were looking desperate in the second half at times, i feared our dodgy defending might come back to haunt us.

Two hometown lads scoring , i bet that doesnt happen often in derbies these days

Not unhappy with the point. Bit gutted we couldn't hold on for the win, but Blues could easily have won that too.

I'm bitterly disappointed Bruce has seen it wise to give Crappy yet ANOTHER chance though. I just cannot forgive him for his antics last season and wish he'd followed RDM's lead in letting him rot.

Disappointing to concede the goal but ultimately we didn't deserve the win and were a bit lucky to hold on to 1-1, so fair enough....

I can't understand HOW a professional footballer who is being paid around £60k a week can allow himself to STILL be overweight and unfit after all this time he's had available to take care of himself. It's not as if he's been injured either. Disgraceful, IMO.

I agree Gabby has been taking the piss for years , he used to be a fairly decent player , but its as though he has been given higher and higher contracts based on the fact he was captain, whether he was playing well or not , so he just became a fat lazy greedy git, we should have got rid a couple of seasons ago

Another win for us, we had to come back from 1-0 down though , looks like the players have found a bit of confidence under Bruce.

Watching Soccer Saturday Chris Kamara was doing our game and he said Gabby got a standing ovation as he came on for McCormack , looks like some Villa fans have forgiven him already

So Crappy, who's been a toxic presence for years, had a foul attitude and let himself get unfit and overweight during our worst ever season, gets a standing ovation. Meanwhile, Ashley Westwood who, regardless of ability, has given us nothing but full commitment and professionalism, gets booed when he comes on. Shameful. It's going to take a LOT for me to forgive him again and I'm not sure I ever can.

First comeback win since December 2014. 3 wins in 4 matching our win total for the whole of last season. More points than we managed in the whole of last season. It's starting to feel good being a Villa fan again!

I didnt know about the boo's for Westwood, i still don't think he is good enough, but he has got his head down and given his best every time, so for our fans to boo him is disgusting tbh , they could have been booing the decision to bring him on ?, but even then i just don't see the need for it , we are in a better position with a bit of positivity now Bruce has come in, why ruin it by booing

He's been booed more than once this season, so sadly I can't see it being the decision to bring him on/bring (I think) Kodjia off.

Agreed though, a good run of results and performances under a good new manager, we need to get behind ALL of them and lay off the booing.

I didnt know about the booing for Westwood coming on which is sad to hear about!

Still great to come back from a goal down to win and continue Steve Bruce unbeaten run at Villa!

I was at the game.

First half was terrible, but we turned it around very well for the 2nd 45 minutes.

I think Gabby is a disgrace, but I wouldn't boo him or any other player.

I like Westwood. He's a nice lad and tries hard. Not the most talented though.

I think we'll be lucky to get anything from tomorrow's fixture to be perfectly honest. Brighton are a very strong side.
