I really hate it the fact that we are playing like a team going through the motions with nothing to play for, just hope against hope we get a result against Middlesbrough.

I think we are due a goal fest and hopefully it will come against Middlesbrough and send them down

Nil - 5 would be good

I hope Newcastle and Hull avoid the drop and Sunderland join WBA and Middlesbrough

It has to be said, Villa is garbage without Laursen. We've been looking shaky ever since his injury and now that his retired, I'm starting to get concerned with this team. They don't look bothered to even stay above Everton and it makes me wonder why I should bother spending a season ticket. Look at the positions for this match, what a mess.

We've managed to win 1 game since dinosaur years against a team who are performing very badly and we still only manaaged to scrap it, which happened to be at Villa park. What a joke.

MON really needs to sort this squad out for next season or we'll be getting a repeated 06/07 performance based on the rubbish we've had to put up with ever since we got knocked out the UEFA. That incident with Stoke for instance was unacceptable, I was fuming that it happened both ways this season. The defence was non-existent, that was the truth of it.

Good job every team below us has played below par or we would be sitting in 10th by now! How did a promising start come to this? Look at all the chances we had in the last 5 ****ing minutes against Boro and no one could finish the job. 1 win out of 15 games is it now? Pathetic Villa. Absolutely pathetic.

Still 5th place to play for which means an improvement on last year. I hope the effort is made.

A win would also get Villa more than the 60 points of last year.

Also I think there is around a million £ difference in a 5th or 6th finish

I am giving my husband and sons a lift to Villa Park today (and picking them up at the end). I don't need to park, just drop them off. Could any of you Villa experts please tell me if I'll be able to drop them off without too much difficulty within about a 10-15 walk from the stadium, or will it be gridlocked everywhere? Their tickets are in the Doug Ellis Stand. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Well we sent the Geordies down, we played well at times and probably should have scored more.

Yep, 6th place and two points more than last year.

Such a disappointing last few months.

From a wolves messageboard.

Mackem:

n. A demi-god worshipped by ancient civilisations as the epitome of wit and sexual prowess. Romans and Vikings colonised the area in the hope of developing a race of supermen to help them in their ambitions. The word is based on a blend of Roman and Norse, and means "astonishingly well-endowed, funny and attractive angel on a temporary visit from Valhalla."

Not to be confused with Geordie who were the unfortunate result of a Roman experiment in which Scotsmen had intercourse with pigs. These unfortunate troll-like humanoids can be identified by the fact they have to wear clothes covered in a large barcode so they can be tracked and controlled by security satellites.

We badly need more strength in depth for the next season if we are going to go a step further. I would say another center back at least and cover at full back.

According to SSN Curtis Davies said he expects Villa to make 6 new signings in the summer. Which we definitely need.

I think GB will stay if we give him a nice pay package.

Lost a lot of respect for him!

And erm, that's two captains we've lost in one month. Who's going to do the job now?

I lost the majority of the respect that I had for him after the goings on of last summer.

There was talk of getting him to see out the last year of his contract but for me that would have been a waste of time.

Gareth left for the cash and Villa got £12 million. For all the money Man City have I can't see them finishing higher in the table than Villa next year, they may not finish higher than Birmingham.

We've been linked to several players such as , Kyle Naughton, David Bentley, Steven Defour, but nothing has come of it.

I think Naughton and Bentley may come to Villa but the Defour link as gone on far to long

One of the papers (I THINK it was the Sun) apparently interviewed Bentley and he claimed he's hoping to sign for us by July 1st.

Strong rumours keep persisting about Michael Owen too. I'd love him here at Villa, but I'm not sure MON will take the risk with him.

Are Naughton and Defour any good? I know very little about either.

We've also been linked with Drenthe from Real madrid as well who has big potential, but it seems Fiorentina may beat us to his signature. Do you think if we get Bentley Milner will be moved into a more central role now that Barry has gone?
